14 judges in court to halt disciplinary proceedings

Fourteen of the 22 suspended judges allegedly caught on tape taking bribes by investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas have initiated legal action to halt the disciplinary process against them.

The Judicial Council after reviewing the explosive video set up a five-member committee to probe the judges including 12 superior members of the bench.

The 14 magistrates and judges are questioning the process, describing it as unlawful.

The plaintiffs are Emmanuel Kofi Sunu, Benjamin Yaw Osei, Kodwo Filson, Seyram Tsatsu Azumah, Isaac Akwantey and Florence Ninepence, who are all Circuit Court judges. The others who are District Magistrates are Jacob Amponsah, Alfred K.A Mensah, Albert Zoogah, Isaac Amoah, Michael Gyamfi Boamah, Paul Alhassah, Stephen Assure and William Baffoae

The defendant is the Judicial Council.
