Jawula backs suspension of Sepp Blatter

Former Ghana FA boss Alhaji MND Jawula has backed the decision by the FIFA Ethics Committee to suspend FIFA president Sepp Blatter for 90 days.

Blatter has been suspended over the massive bribery allegation leveled against him and other top officials of the world’s football governing body.

Members of FIFA's ethics committee met this week after the Swiss Attorney General opened criminal proceedings against Blatter last month.

He has been accused of signing a contract unfavorable to world’s football governing body and making a “disloyal payment” to UEFA president Michel Platini.

Speaking to Starr Sports, Jawula who serves on the CAF inter-club committee believes the allegations against Blatter is a blessing in disguise.

“FIFA’s credibility has been on the wind for a very long time to the extent that some of the major sponsors of FIFA have asked for Sepp Blatter to step down. This kind of image is not good for the game and therefore the only thing FIFA can say is that these personalities should not hang around anymore so that those who are left can pick up the pieces and see what best they can do,” Jawula explained.

CAF president Issa Hayatou is the interim boss of FIFA until February 2016.
