In the late 60s and early 70s, clubs from Zaire used to be the very nemesis of Kotoko and to a minor extent Hearts of Oak. Remember TP Englebert's raw deal in the 1970 final where a referee awarded a dubious 85th minute penalty for Englebert infront of President Mobutu Sese Seko. Then the toss of a coin earlier on in the 1967 final between kotoko and Englebert? Kotoko was alleged to have won the toss to pick the cup, but Kalala the Englebert captain kicked the coin and a rematch was fixed for Yauonde without Kotoko's participation and the cup was given to Anglebert. Then in the mid 70s Kotoko played another Zairee club again and were made to sleep in class rooms with a knife attack on Osei Kofi. Hearts faced similar treatment in 2000 in the same Zairee, the year they won the championship. Many Ghanaians then canvassed the boycott of teams from Zairee. Now we find Ghanaian players plying their trade in Congo DR. Maybe the change of name has also led to a change of behavior, thank God
