Soccer is big money now if we can't pay the players they will leave. How many Ghanaians of other vocations leave the country for greener pastures. If the corrupt politicians could have put some of their bucks into local soccer it might help. Watched the local Black stars in COSAFA Cup and the performance was so pathetic. Even Ffatau Dauda is lucky to be called. Patrotism will not put money into the poor players pockets.

If Coach Grant loves what he sees in the current Blackstar players then he must appreciate the fact that another coach sometime back decided to give them a chance eventhough at that time they could not be seen as immediate replacement.Gyan was so young and small when was invited they nicknamed him baby jet bcos he was so fast.Coach Appiah saw something in Jordan and so gave him numerous chances and time to develop even when whispers of disagreement grew into outright sreams.I can give more examples but I think I have made my point. We support our Coach but we also expect him to show some long term plans for the future. AFTERALL WE DID NOT HIRE A PLAYER SELECTOR BUT A COACH WE CAN FOSTER AND DEVELOP THE NEW GENERATION BLACKSTARS. I WILL PRETEND I DIDN'T HEAR THE COMMENT ABOUT NOT FINDING AN ALREADY MADE PLAYER FROM THE PREMIER LEAGUE.IT IS TIME TO ROLL YOUR SLEEVES AND GO TO WORK MR GRANT!!!!

stop using your emotions to analyze everything. being called up into the national team is not a birth right. it is based on merit so stop it. true all the players want to go abroad but it has nothing to do with being called up into the national team. they want to leave because of economic reasons. also like Grant said to develop their game. not every foreign based player is called. if he is not good or he does not fit into the coach plan he would not be called no matter where he plays. Ghanaians should stop being so emotional and use their heads

He's right. Though I think when it comes to our goalkeeping we can find better in the local league, overall we don't have better players in the local league than those who are abroad. What forward in Ghana can compete with Gyan, Jordan, Andre, Acheampong, Schlupp etc. What midfielder can compete with Kwadwo Asamoah, Alfred Duncan, Acquah, Wakaso and I can keep going. Mismanagement and corruption has caused our best to go abroad because they know they will not only be trained better and reach their full potential but they will also be appreciated and paid better.

If one look closly at the junior league level, you observe we are at the same level with the top European countries. Thats why we do very well. At the senior level though, the Europeans spend a lot of money to make players better, the league better and more entertaining. In my opinion: There are individual tanlented players at the local level, but black star is not a place to get experience. Its a place to compete. Hence we need to upgrade our league as Egypt, Tunisia and south Afica have done.

Why didn't you compete for the contract to become the Ghana national coach? Nonsense! Does it matter whether the Ghanaians Avram Grant selects to play for our pleasure and win trophies for Ghana are based in Yokohama, Oxford, Tamale or Chokor? Why is this even a subject of any discussion? Don't we have more pressing national issues to deal with, especially after the great floods and fire in Accra?

I totally agree with Mr Grant for not bringing in local stars into the national squad. It's very pathetic to know that some of the players go home not knowing where the next meal shall come from let alone to feed their families. Some of them play their heart out but never gets recognition until they go outside the country.Even those call to the junior levels,it's only God who knows that the huddles they have to go through to be justified. So the least opportunity they get of course they would be gone even if they are half baked.I strongly suggest for this trend to stop and boost the morals of the locals a serious brain storm is needed from all our soccer enthusiasts to curb the menace.

Avram Grant is to identify talents and develop them into the national team as and when needed. If he sees none in the local league, that is his decision. If we try to push him to allocate a quota to local players then we are interfering and not giving him a free hand to do his job. He has the right to select who he feels good enough for the team and nobody can take that from him.It is true that Ghana won all 4 AFCON laurels with local players but it was a time when none were abroad. If it was easy as it is now, none of those who won the AFCON would have been in Ghana by then. I watch the local league every now and then and let me say that there is nothing good to write about. It is up to the local teams to develop their players very well for them to earn any call up to the national team. Our local players are not good enough for the black stars when compared to the crop of players we have in the team now. Case in point: Nathaniel Asamoah and Eric Bekoe were given roles in the team and they did not get anywhere. Why? they were not good enough to command striking roles in the black stars. Ask yourself, how many of the current black stars players play regularly for their teams? just a few, because even over there they struggle with the europeans counterparts. If Dede Ayew is not good enough for the elite european clubs then the locals have a long way to go.The truth hurts!!

The point is that football has developed more scientificaly nd artfully. Our home based players and their managers are too much in a hurry play abroad have no time to develop the aspects of ball control, speed accuracy, shooting, dribbling skills, ball possession, passing game, goal scoring, etc. Is it a wonder that the local game has become too dull, uninteresting and a waste of time.
The Ghanaian football manager believes in sell out before maturity. This is true. Unless things improve, we'll continue patronize the foreign games. The local game is full of naivety and faulty passes and is very boring at times.
