Don't tell me a fit Mensah is definitely good. Don't throw dust in our eyes. You were fit when Adu lobbed the ball behind you. Fitness is one thing, skill and form is another. Mensah has not played for 2 years, if he's just started let's see what he's offering before talking about his inclusion.

Having said that, Stephen Appiah had club prior to 2010 W/C except that he wasn't playing. However, his kind of leadership skills overwhelmed the playing body to the extent that, they thought they couldn't make it without him and that was something the head coach at that time and GFA management believed too. For John Mensah's case, it's totally different. He's not inspirational, he's a central defender and that's one hell of a position to toy with on the field of play. Appiah has to monitor him very closely

He himself must accept the fact that he is not what he used to be. Yes, he has done a great job for Ghana but at this time he must forget and rather encourage the young ones to be like him. Why all of a sudden the old guards all wants to be in Brazil. They will not be able to cope with the pace in Brazil. I tell you it will be a disaster for Ghana if some of these old guards are selected in preference to the young ones who really played hard to qualify Ghana.

It is not only playing but if he is playing well because many are those who are playing but not necessarily playing well. If he is not playing well at his club then he cannot play well in Brazil. It is on this note Essien is of the view that the head coach Akwasi Appiah treats him like any other player. That implies that if there is a player who is playing better than him, the player should be chosen ahead of him (Essien).
