Starlets Arrive From Italy

Ghana's Black Starlets arrived over the weekend from Bari, Italy, with the Fair play Award from the Meridian Cup Tournament organised for African and European countries.

The Black Starlets, who lost their last match to Spain by two goals to nil saw their West African neighbours, Nigeria receiving the Best African team award.

The Best Player Award went to Czech player Tomas Jun, who scored a hat trick in their game against Mali and eventually had six goals to his credit. Michael Ocansey also scored two goals.

The Portuguese coach, Carlos Dinis, said if had the chance, he would have picked the Starlets as the best team of the tournament.

Most football agents who were around and wanted to enter into negotiations for some Ghanaian players were told to come over to Ghana and have talks with the various clubs of the players that they expressed interest in.

Meanwhile the Black Starlets have been invited for an international friendly with Nigeria. The Starlets would be given $5000 for participation and would also to be catered for by the organisers, Mega Mix Consult of Nigeria.

But the Nigerian coach also wants his side to play against Seychelles on the 11th February, this could push the invitational match ahead if the NFA agrees to his proposals.
