Young people who are God fearing need to be shaped into people of integrity who hold on to high moral standards and are willing to impact the Ghanaian society positively by taking on leadership positions to bring about the needed change as they develop the competencies that would spearhead holistic transformation in Ghana and the world.
The church should be intentional in the development of leaders of integrity in order to produce GODLY men and women of integrity with a good work ethic and to hold them accountable to their professions in business, government, education, media, arts and entertainment, the church and live GODLY values in the family.
The church in Ghana need to fully embrace her calling as salt and light in society and to take responsibility to respond to the challenges facing our nation Ghana in all the areas mentioned above.
Also, the church first of all need to be a model of leadership characterized by integrity, servant hood, empowerment and transformation in order to have the moral authority to fulfill her prophetic role as salt and light in the Ghanaian society and hold its leaders as well as those in public office to the highest standards of leadership, support GODLY transformational servant leaders in public office, and be bold to hold those in leadership accountable without fear or favour regardless of tribe, party, or religion, on the basis of the WORD of GOD.
Beside, Ghana needs a MORAL VISION; a picture of what we want the Ghanaian society to become in the next 50 years be to included in the National Development Plan and constitutionalized. A Moral vision of God Centeredness, Sacredness of Human life, Positive Self Identity, Sense of Community, Personal and Public integrity , “Ubuntu’ (Life that is guided by sound moral values, life that is a model for society), Empowering Love, Dignity of Labour, Responsible interdependence, Freedom for all, Justice for all and Value of Excellence.
Our schools, churches, families and civic organizations should teach these values and uphold people in private and public life accountable to these standards.
In this regard, the Church in Ghana should establish various task forces to identify and address critical areas and themes for leadership and development, whiles they call on Government, and her educational institutions to bring back moral and civic education into the Primary and Secondary schools. To that end, the crisis situation where the majority of our first cycle institutions come out illiterate must be urgently addressed by the government and religious organizations.
AFREG-Ghana Ayeekoo!!! For such a wonderful initiative.
