Been trying to engage my fellow Ghanaians in a conversation about priorities, but it has been a difficult one. These are basic life priorities. I look all around the country and church buildings, massive ones at that, are springing up everywhere. Forty, fifty years ago, when Kwesi broni came to town, he built churches, schools and hospitals. Give the Catholics credit for that. Look at the state of our hospitals now...and people who sit in all these comfy churches, at one time or another, get sick and go to hospitals with no decent life-saving facilities. Imagine a conglomerate of churches working to build first class hospitals...they can even convince the government to start training many Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners instead of the concentration on doctors, who will eventually leave the country for greener pastures...you cannot fault them. One doctor can supervise multiple PAs and NPs...we cannot lose. That may be the way to go in Ghana. Priorities, priorities, priorities. It is the will of God that his people use their abilities and substance to save lives.

You should rather spend the money to expand science education. It is ironic that in the Obroniland where I live, church buildings are being torn down or converted into apartments (flats)for rent and for other commercial applications.
The reason is very simple: Only a few, very old Obroni people attend church services in these modern times. The Obroni people who brought you stories of "their God" no longer believe in the "ananse stories" of their Bible. Now, Christianity is strong only in 2 main parts of the world - South America and Africa - because they are still the most uncivilized parts of the world. People there still don't know that the stories in the Bible are based on myths.
I always wonder why Black Africans can't develop their own religions on the bases of their "own" gods? Why do Africans have to copy, imitate and ape someone elses "foreign" relion which is based on the geographical and cultural circumstances of those people?

In such a faith based system is it any wonder that the country is messed up? When you operate under such a system the end result is disaster. Much like if you were hungry but rather than look for food imagined it. The end result is starvation and possibly death. That is why Ghana is dying.

I am Presecan, an Odadee and a Presbyterian. We don't have a chapel on campus and remember this is a Presbeterian school, so I hope you all get it. The Assembly Hall is exactly that. The chapel is being built by past students ... read full comment

The chapel is being built by past students (alumni) so what is your problem. Rev. Martey is also the President of the old boys students association so it is only right that he cuts the sod. If you don't know what you're talking about don't comment.
