Using ways and means by pastors to extract that money from poor followers is very bad.To the point where people avoid going to church to listen to the word of God because they have to money for collection is horrible. The problem is that, many people are becoming disenchanted with the church leaders who continue to enrich themselves with church money. This in-your face display of greed and arrogance is enough to make people not to give to the church. We're talking about leaders whose only source of income is being a pastor but living in a million dollar homes and driving luxury cars surrounded by bodyguards. If they're serious about living a Christ-like life, they wouldn't be stocking up large sum of church money and living lavishly.

Christians must also lay down their lives to redeem the world from poverty. Judgment will be based on the rich Christian's contribution to poverty eradication from the world. The sheep will be separated from the goats. Taxes and tithes are meant for the same purpose. There is blindness in Christianity but very soon doctrines will be based on divine wisdom for the purpose of God to be fulfilled in his world. In the order of Jesus Christ offerings and tithes should be used to manifest the justice, mercy and faithfulness of God to all the afflicted in the world. Apostle Paul was told to remember the poor in his ministry. Being Christ-like is being the redeemer of all the people in the world. Angels and men have one thing in common. The LORD is the Maker of them all. Rich and poor have one thing in common. The LORD is the Maker of them all. Do not use the holy offerings of Christians for materialism and worldliness.

In an effort to show he knowledge of English language, the writer managed to bore me to death. The English people have started a campaign called 'keep it Simple', where they have tried to make the language understandable. It is sad to say that the fools discover this later part of their lives on their dying beds and it has always being "had I known". Don't worry yourself, don't cast your pearls before the swine. The very scripture you quoted regarding Paul's commendation of the benevolence of the Phillippian Church as against the lack of response by the other churches should teach a lesson that the churches were not obliged to tithe. Yet people like you would give tenuous reasons to support the practice. In any case since you appear to be an intellectual, I trust that you will be honest enough to realise that God never commanded anyone to tithe 10% of his income. In Lev. 27:30-33, the Israelites were commanded to tithe every tenth count of their increase as they took annual stock of their animals. And if this is subtly interpreted as 10% payment why would people not raise queries about the stance taken by some churches with regards to giving? We know the tithe as a conspiracy theory for spiritual exploitation. You may live in this ignorance and call it your choice.
