Why would our God not look favorably upon Rev Asante’s attempt at improving the Lord's house? God is not dead; he is surely alive and roaring like a lion where the likes of Rev Asante and others have failed using politics to fill their selfish cups. It is all so ironic that the men of God who would chastise the sitting president for the national failures do suffer the same fate managing the affairs of the church
But once again Rev Asante cannot bring himself to accept the truth before him that irrespective of whether contributions by members are mandatory or freely given, it still remains a payment by and from church members.
Talk about abject mismanagement of funds. Did Rev Asante not know that securing a loan does not necessarily mean taking possession of the amount at the same time? Did all the projects start at the same time? Could the project(s) have been accomplished through phases? Would a phased approach not buy the church an opportunity to engage in short-term investment activities with favorable returns on investment?

In my humble opinion, I suggest that income-generating activities such as operating a private university should be separated from the core activities of the church - which is winning souls for Christ. It beats my imagination as to why as a member of the church I should pay to service a loan contracted by a private university, and still pay competitive/market-based fees when I enroll my ward at the same university. This is unfair and the earlier the top hierarchy of the church realizes this the better it would serve their conscience. As a member of the church, I would rather keep this money and use it to pay my ward's fees at the same or other universities.

No tertiary education is free in any country, from China to USA, Methodist University College of Ghana. Learn from the Catholics and their educational system in the Vatican and the USA. Education is expensive and not free especially in private Colleges/Universities. I was privileged to have enrolled in both private and public universities in the US and know the difference between the two. The Catholic Bishops who support CUA school and they also receive grants from the Vatican in Rome. The Catholics also invest in various real tangible assets like real estates, which accruals from rents and leases keep the school going, financial tools like bonds, TBs, stocks. Then there are real time support from alumni of the school; such as Governors, Senators, Congress men abd women and all other past students for support. the school also solicit gifts from alumni. Thus the school is able to suport itself and the staff. Tuition in The Catholic University at DC akone is $40000 per year for undergraduate programs and $60000 for grad students. Its is similar story in GeorgeTown University and so is George Washington University. A Methodist school in the name of American University in DC has a similar cost structure for in state tuition. Further, the school is mindful of its social responsibility to the DC Community in which it operates by allowing continuing education for all staff. However, staff undertaking courses are allowed 6 credit classes per a two semesters, more or less part time schooling, yet they earn their degrees anyway. The School also relies much on the Direct foreign inflows from students coming from the Gulf States, ironically, these are states where Christians are being persecuted for their faith. I beg to digress. Again, as a reminder to the MUC of Ghana, the needy are given grants and scholarships to go to school provided they maintained GPA lf C- average. The point being, education is a good business and MUC can take a cue from CUA and AU in Washington DC. I see no reason why MUC should run at a loss or a Not for profit status. Send emmissries to CUA, Notre Dame in Indiana to learn from them. May I suggest MUC ask for finacial support from Bill and Melinda Foundation, Bloomberg Foundation and possibly run sister programs with school like American University of DC. The Religious Institution can bypass the National Accreditation Board and form a Joint National Missionary Accreditation Board.Yes I dare say this because the NAB has become a corrupt institution stifling educational growth for Ghanaian business' and Missionary schools, whereas they allow a so-called one-structured Indian Institution called Zikkes to be accredited for higher/university education in Accra. The time is now for the missionary churches to suite the NAB and aban; the corrupt Mahama led NDC regime in court to take your rightful place as pace setters of education developers in Ghana. Take the law into your own hands. Mahama is killing everything Ghana and encouraging all foreign as epoc. Take your message into the pulpit and let church members vote against this wicked and evil NDC aban. Chooo boo, yea. Best of luck. MUC can also refinance the terms of the loan and the interest rate. Allow a quota for foeign students and resists the NAB, period.
