LONDON — The world knows him as “Jihadi John,” the masked man with a British accent who has beheaded several hostages held by the Islamic State and who taunts audiences in videos circulated widely online.
But his real name, according to friends and others familiar with his case, is Mohammed Emwazi, a Briton from a well-to-do family who grew up in West London and graduated from college with a degree in computer programming. He is believed to have traveled to Syria around 2012 and to have later joined the Islamic State, the group whose barbarity he has come to symbolize.

“I have no doubt that Mohammed is Jihadi John,” said one of Emwazi’s close friends who identified him in an interview with The Washington Post. “He was like a brother to me. .?.?. I am sure it is him.”
A representative of a British human rights group who had been in contact with Emwazi before he left for Syria also said he believed Emwazi was Jihadi John, a moniker given to him by some of the hostages he once held.
“There was an extremely strong resemblance,” Asim Qureshi, research director at the rights group, CAGE, said when shown one of the videos and asked to confirm whether Emwazi could be “Jihadi John.”

“This is making me feel fairly certain that this is the same person,” Qureshi added.
Authorities have used a variety of investigative techniques, including voice analysis and interviews with former hostages, to try to identify Jihadi John. James B. Comey, the director of the FBI, said in September — only a month after the Briton was seen in a video killing American journalist James Foley — that officials believed they had succeeded.
Nevertheless, the identity of Jihadi John has remained shrouded in secrecy. Since Foley’s killing, he has appeared in a series of videos documenting the gruesome killings of other hostages, including four other Westerners, some of whom he personally beheaded.

In each, he is dressed in all black, a balaclava covering all but his eyes and the ridge of his nose. He wears a holster under his left arm.
A spokeswoman for the British Embassy in Washington said: “Our prime minister has been clear that we want all those who have committed murder on behalf of ISIL to face justice for the appalling acts carried out. There is an ongoing police investigation into the murder of hostages by ISIL in Syria. It is not appropriate for the government to comment on any part of it while this continues.” ISIL is another name for the Islamic State.
U.S. officials declined to comment for this report. Emwazi’s family declined a request for an interview, citing legal advice.
The Kuwaiti-born Emwazi, in his mid-20s, appears to have left little trail on social media or elsewhere online. Those who knew him say he was polite and had a penchant for wearing stylish clothes while adhering to the tenets of his Islamic faith. He had a beard and was mindful of making eye contact with women, friends said.

He was raised in a middle-class neighborhood in London and on occasion prayed at a mosque in Greenwich.
The friends, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the investigation, believe that Emwazi started to radicalize after a planned safari in Tanzania following his graduation from the University of Westminster.
Emwazi and two friends — a German convert to Islam named Omar and another man, Abu Talib — never made it on the trip. Once they landed in Dar es Salaam, in May 2009, they were detained by police and held overnight. It’s unclear whether the reason for the detention was made clear to the three, but they were eventually deported.
Emwazi flew to Amsterdam, where he claimed that an officer from MI5, Britain’s domestic security agency, accused him of trying to reach Somalia, where the militant group al-Shabab operates in the southern part of the country, according to e-mails that he sent to Qureshi and that were provided to The Post.

Emwazi denied the accusation and claimed that MI5 representatives had tried to recruit him. But a former hostage said Jihadi John was obsessed with Somalia and made his captives watch videos about al-Shabab, which is allied with al-Qaeda.

When French Magazine poblished something about thier prophet Mohammed, muslims in Mali vent their anger by burning christian churches in Mali. Didn't we witness just last week, muslims burnt SDA buildings in Atebubu? ISIS released a video on Saturday showing militants beheading three Arabic-speaking prisoners. Called “Harvest of the Apostates,” the high-quality clip features common characteristics of ISIS propaganda: interviews with the hostages, up-close shots of their faces, complete subtitles, animated graphics and gruesome, unflinching footage of three men being beheaded with bowie knives.
So far, no Western media appear to have reported on the release, which isn’t that surprising, but it does sit in stark contrast to the coverage given on Friday to the Islamic State’s unconfirmed claims that a U.S.-led coalition airstrike had killed American aid worker and ISIS hostage Kayla Jean Mueller. Further, last week’s release of a video showing captive Jordanian pilot Muadh al-Ksasbeh burned alive received a massive amount of press—partly because Jordan is a comparatively Western-friendly state, and one that is involved in the fight against ISIS, and partly because the king of Jordan was in the U.S. at the time.
Even this under-the-radar video shows how ISIS plays the media like a violin. Its videos of the executions of Westerners, or Western-friendly infidels, are produced for a Western audience. They are polished in production and subtitled in English—so you can imagine the delight in ISIS HQ when Fox News in the U.S. aired the execution video in full online. This latest video, on the other hand, had subtitles only in Arabic. The Myth:
Muhammad was a peaceful man who taught his followers to be the same. Muslims lived peacefully for centuries, fighting only in self-defense, and only when it was necessary. True Muslims would never act aggressively.
The Truth:
There shouldn't be any argument over who the "true Muslim" is because the Quran clearly distinguishes the true Muslim from the pretender in Sura 9 and elsewhere. According to this - one of the last chapters of the Quran - the true believer "strives and fights with their wealth and persons" while the hypocrites are those who "sit at home," refusing to join the jihad against unbelievers in foreign lands.
In truth, Muhammad organized 65 military campaigns in the last ten years of his life and personally led 27 of them. The more power that he attained, the smaller the excuse needed to go to battle, until finally he began attacking tribes merely because they were not yet part of his growing empire.
After Muhammad’s death, his successor immediately went to war with former allied tribes which wanted to go their own way. Abu Bakr called them 'apostates' and slaughtered anyone who did not want to remain Muslim. Eventually, he was successful in holding the empire together through blood and violence.
The prophet of Islam's most faithful followers and even his own family soon turned on each other as well. There were four caliphs (leaders) in the first twenty-five years, each of which was a trusted companion of his. Three of these four were murdered. The third caliph was murdered by those allied with the son of the first caliph. The fourth caliph was murdered in the midst of a conflict with the fifth caliph, who began a 100-year dynasty of excess and debauchery that was brought to an end in a gruesome, widespread bloodbath by descendents of Muhammad’s uncle (who was not even a Muslim).
Muhammad’s own daughter, Fatima, and his son-in-law, Ali, who both survived the pagan hardship during the Meccan years safe and sound, did not survive Islam after the death of Muhammad. Fatima died of stress from persecution within three months, and Ali was later assassinated by Muslim rivals. Their son (Muhammad’s grandson) was killed in battle with the faction that became today’s Sunnis. His people became Shias. The relatives and personal friends of Muhammad were mixed into both warring groups, which then fractured further into hostile sub-divisions as Islam expanded.
Muslim apologists, who like to say that is impossible for today's terrorists to be Muslim when they kill fellow Muslims, would have a very tough time explaining the war between Fatima's followers and Aisha to a knowledgeable audience. Muhammad explicitly held up both his favorite daughter and his favorite wife as model Muslim women, yet they were invoked respectively by each side in the violent civil war that followed his death. Which one was the prophet of God so horribly wrong about?
Muhammad left his men with instructions to take the battle against Christians, Persians, Jews and polytheists (which came to include millions of unfortunate Hindus). For the next four centuries, Muslim armies steamrolled over unsuspecting neighbors, plundering them of loot and slaves, and forcing the survivors to either convert or pay tribute at the point of a sword.
Companions of Muhammad lived to see Islam declare war on every major religion in the world in just the first few decades following his death - pressing the Jihad against Hindus, Christians, Jews, Zoroastrians, and Buddhists.
By the time of the Crusades (when the Europeans began fighting back), Muslims had conquered two-thirds of the Christian world by sword, from Syria to Spain, and across North Africa. Millions of Christians were enslaved by Muslims, and tens of millions of Africans. The Arab slave-trading routes would stay open for 1300 years until pressure from Christian-based countries forced Islamic nations to declare the practice illegal (in theory). To this day, the Muslim world has never apologized for the victims of Jihad and slavery.
There is not another religion in the world that consistently produces terrorism in the name of God as does Islam. The most dangerous Muslims are nearly always those who interpret the Quran most transparently. They are the fundamentalists or purists of the faith, and believe in Muhammad’s mandate to spread Islamic rule by the sword, putting to death those who will not submit. In the absence of true infidels, they will even turn on each other.
The holy texts of Islam are saturated with verses of violence and hatred toward those outside the faith, as well as the aforementioned "hypocrites" (Muslims who don't act like Muslims). In sharp contrast to the Bible, which generally moves from relatively violent episodes to far more peaceful mandates, the Quran travels the exact opposite path (violence is first forbidden, then permitted, then mandatory). The handful of earlier verses that speak of tolerance are overwhelmed by an avalanche of later ones that carry a much different message. While Old Testament verses of blood and guts are generally bound by historical context within the text itself, Quranic imperatives to violence usually appear open-ended and subject to personal interpretation.
From the history of the faith to its most sacred writings, those who want to believe in "peaceful Islam" have a lot more to ignore than do the terrorists. By any objective measure, the "Religion of Peace" has been the harshest, bloodiest religion the world has ever known. In Islam there is no peace unless Muslims have power - and even then...

Some Muslims pretend that they are moderates. There is no such thing as a moderate Muslims. Every Muslim believes that he who insults the prophet must be killed. What is moderate or tolerant about this stance? Islam is the only region where due process is not applied. The constant stoning, beheading, cutting of hands for alleged petty theft and what not, do not speak well of Islam. Women are stoned for adultery, but men are not punished. What is tolerant about Sharia? In Saudi Arabia a man was allowed to pull the teeth of another man for the purpose of revenge.
Muslims anywhere are not allowed to convert to another religion. The punishment is death. In Saudi Arabia, non Muslims are not allowed to practice their faith or non faith. Take Saudi Arabia for example, there is not a single Buddhist temple even though there hundreds of thousands of Buddhist workers in the kingdom. In Egypt, the Copts who have lived in the country for thousands of years are not allowed to build a place of worship.
Muslims travel to the West and enjoyed a secular society that allows them to practice their religion and yet they are ungrateful.
Why do I have to be reminded that Islam is tolerant and peaceful? Don't try to convince me. I will know it myself by examining the religion.

Majority of Muslims condemn the acts perpetrated by ISIS, Boko Haram and their likes. What Babalwaiz does is to send the message to the world that the Qur'an does not support terrorists, by quoting verses you can easily refer to,as well as remind those terrorist that their own scripture is against what they are doing. Therefore I don't see the reason why any peace loving person will not encourage other Muslims to speak against terrorism but rather ridicule scholars whose silence over the years on this subject has been globally criticized.
If you understand why there are many churches today with different dogmas but one Christ you will understand why some Muslims misinterpret the Qur'an and engage in these acts. But the responsibility now lies on us to let them know they are doing the wrong thing. And I think you guys can do better than all these unnecessary attacks on Muslims in general. A lot of space is given to the terrorists to operate when you begin to associate them with Islam, and give them time to expand their forces. Anybody including Muslims can be a victim of the acts. Imagine a suicide bomber who bombs a supermarket, are you sure he/she is not going to kill Muslims too?
