The same Creator you call God. The fact that your slave master calls his creator God does not mean that people should abandon their language for english. I'm Fanti and I call my creator Ewuradze. I'm not expecting somebody from the northern part of our dear country Ghana to call his or her creator as I do. I can understand the name "Allah" preexisted Islam because it was the name being used by the pagan preIslamic Arabians for the supreme god of the Mohammed's tribe, Qurush. A name like Abduallah is the name of Mohammed's father which means slave of allah.
Of note is the difficulty of the vocabulary translation of the name "God" of the Bible in Arabic. The Arabic had only one word synonymous with God: the pagan word for their god--Allah. It is in this vein that the Christian sees the synonymous use of Allah by Muslims as blasphemous.
For starters Christians distinguish their God from all other gods by his creatorship of heaven and earth, and Jesus Christ whom God sent to the world to save man from sin and the second death (hell fire of which there is no possibility of resurrection). Islam's claim that God has no Son does distinguish it from the Christian God . Contextually, both Christians and Muslims cannot be right with such divergent views. Logic prevents the prudent acceptance of both views as facts.
"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3:16
The problem of sin and its eradication is addressed through grace (an unmerited favor) which was initiated in Eden and outside Eden by Sacrifices, and ratified at Calvary" cross. Islam, however, does not have a Moral Law given by God to govern the lives of its adherents. Morality has various interpretations.
All world religious founders like Buddha, Mohammed etc. are dead. But Christ is at the right hand of God mediating the merits of his righteousness of perfect life for those who come to him in faith as their Substitute for Salvation.
In the mediation we see 1. Freedom from the penalty of sin (hell); freedom from the power of sin (the go-and-sin-no more stage); freedom from the presence of sin (when Satan is destroyed in hell-- glorification)

Islam's view about God concerning creation of God is not different as you suggest. According to Qur'an 7:54
“Indeed your Lord is Allâh, Who created the heavens and the earth in Six Days, and then He rose and Dominated (Istawâ) over the Throne (in a manner that uniquely suits His Majesty). He brings the night as a veil over the day, seeking it continuously without delay, and (He created) the sun, the moon and the stars subjected to His Command. Surely, to Him is the Creation and Commandment. Blessed is Allâh, the Lord of the ‘Âlamîn (mankind, jinn and all that exists)!”.
Again surah 57:4
"It is He Who created the heavens and the earth in six Days and then Rose and Dominated (Istawâ) over the Throne (in a manner that uniquely suits His Majesty). He knows what goes into the earth and what comes forth from it, and what descends from the heaven and what ascends thereto. And He is with you (by His Knowledge) wherever you may be. And Allâh is the All-Seer of what you do."
Islam view of 'the son of God'in John 3:17 is the literal meaning just like the bible refers to Adam as son of God(luke 3:38), solomon as son of God(2 Samuel 7:12-15), Jacob as son of God and even people who believe in God as children of God. There are also sons of God somewhere in genesis 6:2 who saw beautiful daughters of men and took them as wives.
Definitely, this 'son of man' is no born out of biological relationship but in a literal sense to mean a highly honored servant of God. This is the opinion of Islam. Besides God every other thing or person is creature and servant of God every prophet from Adam through to jesus all served and worshiped Allah(God). Prophet Muhamad was also a servant of Allah.
According to Qur'an Islam was not founded by Muhammad(PBUH)but was perfected and completed on to him as the seal of prophets (see Qur'an 5:3)
There is no where jesus said sin and its eradication is addressed on cross of calvary. instead he said;
"Why do you ask me about what is good?" Jesus replied. "There is only One who is good. If you want to enter life, keep the commandments." Mathew 19:17
"For I tell you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven." Mathew 5:20
Is true that the grace of God is what we need to enter his kingdom but we can not enjoy this grace if we downplay righteousness.
If you read the Qur'an you will understand that Islam did not start from Muhammad but right from Adam which is to testify that there is only one God(Allah) and to accept his messengers so that they will teach you the ways of God.
In case you doubt this then ask yourself what was the name of the religion of Abraham, Adam, Moses and Jesus?; peace be upon them all. It is definitely not Christianity because the term 'christians' was coined later after Jesus by pagans to ridicule the disciples. Judaism is a religion of the Jews and cannot represent the religion of God for entire humanity. The only form of believe which exist in all major religious scriptures is to believe and submit to one God which is in Arabic called "Islam" its meaning has nothing to do with Muhammad(pbuh) or Arabs as a people. Its meaning is something that is globally accepted without regards to race or ethnicity.
Teachings of islam strengthened and beautified the commandements of Gods as prophesied by isaiah 42:21
Isaiah 42 talks about a certain servant of God who will come and judge the gentiles; who will not fail in his conquest; a man who will come from the wilderness in the dwellings of kedar; a warrior who will prevail against his enemies; he will put the idol worshipers into shame. It that same man who came but the world did not know him. If he is not Muhammad(pbuh) then tell me who he was.
