This is one of the most sensible things I have heard from a man of the cloth in recent times. If religion has no respect for the cultural values of a community, then it does not deserve even a second look. God is a Universal and Eternal Creator Being and hence He does not favour one culture over and above another. Our'Prophets' might have come from different cultures but the core moral values are universal and the African ticks all the boxes when it comes to this; that is, if we understand our culture properly!. That is why it so sad to see and hear people who think they can only go to Heaven if they look and behave like the Whiteman or Arab etc., whatever the case might be. So for the Church to make a stand on this is very laudable and must be supported! May the Good Lord Himself strengthen us to worship and serve Him Truly with whatever He Himself has given us. AMEN.

I beg to differ a little with you. I see that our lack of choice in determining who our parents will be, where we will be born, how we survive amidst the relentless waves of adversities in Africa give us a chance to see how much we are indebted to God's grace.
Afrocentrism as a cultural way of life in Africa is not Christlike because it discriminates against non Africans and even Africans with different ethnicity such as white and
Afro-Asians. I am sure we can recall the late Idi Amin's deportation of the visible minorities of Afro-Asians to their homelands when he was in power. Busia in his time deported many Nigerians because they were economic refugees. Partisnship is the way of life for those who do not know Christ. Such is how we treat each other when we see that Africa belongs to us. As a people we have different needs and our needs have to be met before all foreigners in our countries and continent before all others.
How does Christianity solve issues in Afro-centrism, Judeo-centrism, Euro-centrism, Sino-centrism?
By giving us chance to look at Christ, the author and finisher of our faith. Let's recall his birth.
The time for the incarnation of Our Creator and our Redeemer as God's Covenant (Isaiah 42:6), for man has come (Galatians 4:4). In his wisdom God permitted His Son to be born by poor parents. There was no hospital room available in sight at his birth. Only a manger was available to his parents. How will the sterile technique of delivery be possible during delivery in a place of manure and flies?
Jesus survived birth and lived for 33 years to ratify the covenant of our salvation. The waves of adversities never ceased in his life. Satan and the Jews always sought new ways to slay Him. The Jews whom he had come to save rejected him. (John 1:11). But did that discourage him? No. Jesus had an indelible point to prove to us: that no matter what the circumstances of our birth, our source of wealth, our lives will be a success when we rely on God's grace of contentment and industry to govern our lives.
Sin and its effects of discontentment
and adversities may come to us as relentless waves to destroy us but they all have definable limits as far as grace is concerned.
"My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness." 2 Corinthians 12:9a.
Grace is a bigger thing than the Law
"Now we find that the Law keeps slipping into the picture to point the vast extent of sin. Yet, though sin is shown to be wide and deep, thank God his grace is wider and deeper still! The whole outlook changes - sin used to be the master of men and in the end handed them over to death: now grace is the ruling factor, with righteousness as its purpose and its end the bringing of men to the eternal life of God through Jesus Christ our Lord." Romans 5:20-21 (Phillips).
