Am not even sure you read it. you just jumped to the comment section to start your hate. You will never succeed. Am not sure you are religious. Cos a good Jewish or a Good Christian understands the Value of fasting. and the Quran says.......O you who have believed, decreed upon you is fasting as it was decreed upon those before you (Jews and Christians) that you may become righteous -

You are defending your thesis with sceince dated long ago before even Adam was created, while all the three monothesis holy scriptures entalied that Adam was the first creature. If fasting is really a medicine to mankind. What about those destitute people who couldn't enjoy three meals a day and yet their early because of the imposing fasting.
If you also belief in pre- detrmination as propagated by the monothesis religions. Can fastening change what Allah has detrmined for you in your lifetime zoals is written in " LAWHUL MAAFUUZ" ?.

O you who have believed, decreed upon you is fasting as it was decreed upon those before you that you may become righteous - That's what we Believe. Islam is the same religion of all the prophets. And the Quran says in 2-136..Say (O Muslims): We believe in Allah and that which is revealed unto us and that which was revealed unto Abraham, and Ishmael, and Isaac, and Jacob, and the tribes, and that which Moses and Jesus received, and that which the prophets received from their Lord. We make no distinction between any of them, and unto Him we have surrendered. so you see. we are following all of them and we believe in all of them as Prophets. so try to learn about the religion not to hate us. Thanks.

As the author points out, fasting was a practice long before Islam was invented and can take many different forms. Some people fast for health reasons, some for the discipline and others for religious reasons. Others do not fast because of their health. The specific method of fasting prescribed by the Qur’an has not been proved to be better than other methods.
Not only that, one can fast without needing to take on the superstitious mumbo jumbo of religions such as Islam.
A healthy diet and exercise are what doctors recommend.

We have made clear the revelations for people who are sure.

What really is a fast ? Eating breakfast at 7 am, lunch at noon, dinner at 6pm and abstaining from food the whole night, or Eating breakfast at 6pm, lunch at mid-night, dinner at 4am and abstaining from food the whole day? The first implies indulgence during the day and abstinence during the night, while the second implies indulgence during the night and abstinence during the day. So which of these two is PROPER FASTING .......... Eat during the day and abstain during the night, or eat during the night and abstain during the day. Somebody explain this please.

1 – Fasting is a means that makes us appreciate and give thanks for pleasures. For fasting means giving up eating, drinking and intercourse, which are among the greatest pleasures. By giving them up for a short time, we begin to appreciate their value. Because the blessings of Allaah are not recognized, but when you abstain from them, you begin to recognize them, so this motivates you to be grateful for them.
2 – Fasting is a means of giving up haraam things, because if a person can give up halaal things in order to please Allaah and for fear of His painful torment, then he will be more likely to refrain from haraam things. So fasting is a means of avoiding the things that Allaah has forbidden.
3 – Fasting enables us to control our desires, because when a person is full his desires grow, but if he is hungry then his desire becomes weak. Hence the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “O young men! Whoever among you can afford to get married, let him do so, for it is more effective in lowering the gaze and protecting one’s chastity. Whoever cannot do that, let him fast, for it will be a shield for him.”

Why do people care what you do? They don't if it doesn't harm others. But here we have a claim being made with the suggestion it's based on science. Now if you simply said you were following rituals from the Bronze Age that is at least honest. But to attempt to invoke science means you have moved from belief to something evidence based.

One of my favorite quotes on fasting comes from the OT book of Tobit which Catholics consider part of the Biblical Canon (Protestants took it out in the Reformation, because it was in Greek and not Hebrew - if they'd only waited until fragments were found in Hebrew among the Dead Sea Scrolls in 1952...) Anyway, the Book of Tobit or Tobias comes from the Hebrew ????? Tovya meaning "God is good". Here's the quote on fasting from Tobit 12:7-9 "It is good to guard the secret of a king, but gloriously to reveal the works of God. Do good, and evil will not overtake you. Prayer is good when accompanied by fasting, almsgiving, and righteousness. A little with righteousness is better than much with wrongdoing. It is better to give alms than to treasure up gold. For almsgiving delivers from death, and it will purge away every sin. Those who perform deeds of charity and of righteousness will have fullness of life..."
