Why are modern-day preachers so concerned about money! Today tithe, 2morow first fruits! Any student of the Scriptures will realise that under this New covenant, the following are the principles that must govern our giving;
1. Give generously
2. Give as you have purposed in your heart
3. Sow sparingly, reap sparingly, sow bountifully and you reap bountifully
4. Give not under compulsion,grudgingly or necessity, for God loves a cheerful giver
5. Give sacrificially when genuinely instructed by the Holy Spirit without any guilt trip
6. Give with expectation.
Every genuine student of the bible will acknowledge that we are just stewards of the material possessions God allows us to have!
Due to lack of knowledge of the average Christian, these modern-day pastors who think that godliness is a means of gain are using teachings that feed on our human nature of greed to dupe ignorant Christians of their hard earned money! God's heart cry is that we will use the money he allows us to possess to feed the poor, the needy, the orphans, widows and the allien/stranger and by so doing showing this selfish and perverseg generation that indeed those who are sons and daughters of God are zealous about good works ie showing the compassionate nature of their God. No born-again Christian is under any curse if he/she doesn't tithe!!! That is an insult against the cruesome death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Strangely,when theses mercenary teachers of profits teach about tithe and first fruits they forget to teach about what tithes and offerings were meant for under that old and useless covenant! Under this New covenant, there is nothing like first-fruits, tithes, etc! We are just stewards of our money, time and resources. If we are truly saved, we will give generously towards God's Kingdom without any pressure or cajoling! The Gospel of Jesus Christ has been reduced to tithes and seed sowing instead of faith in Jesus Christ which brings salvation to all men, who are then to live a life of love for God and for their fellow man! The Good Samaritan parable should be read and read again by all Christians to grasp what God wants us to do with our money! We are not under the Levitical Priesthood but in a new Covenant in the Holy Spirit!

I have been tithing since I came to the Lord and at One point given the whole of my salary. But as I search ito scripture and learn and understand the Gospel and there is only one Gospel I have come to conclude that first fruit offering, tithing, seed sowing have their root in the Law and I died the Law. I am. blessed through Christ freely. My giving will have only to be as I decide. Teaching people these is mixing the Law and grace. Unfortunately whe you do this, as new wine in Old wine skins you loose both. Christ profits you nothing. You have fallen from grace. These issues are as good as the circumcision issue in the early church. Mathew 23:23. calls tithing a matter of the law. If one want to keep on law he is a debtor to the who law. I think that we who teach the word has missinformed the Church. We ourselves have accepted these teachings from others without understanding if what they preach is the Gospel or not. Lets learn from the Berean church who studied the scriptures to find out if what paul preached. was too. Remember there is only one Gospel.

Likewise, Jacob on his way to his uncle Laban's house after he had wronged his brother Esau, promised or vowed to offer to the services of God a portion of everything that God blessed him with after God saw him through his troubles. Hannah also vowed to offer her unborn child to the services of God if her prayer was answered by God. Bear in mind that all these believers of God made these promises or vows on their own without any duress. They offered their gifts willingly and met their obligation just as Paul advised the Corinthians to offer their gifts willingly and not grudgingly for God loves a cheerful giver. God, Paul said loves a cheerful giver. And God who also supplies seeds to the sower will abundantly bless us if we remain faithful to Him. Remember Christ also said it is better to give than to receive. This is hard to take if you see or reason only with your physical eyes or mind. Fellow men/women, I'll suggest you refer to Ecclesiastics 5: 4-6. As this to me is a very powerful statement which should not be underrated but revered and meditated on. I say this in reference to the incident that took place in the book of Acts chapter 5 regarding Ananias and the wife Sapphira. God is real and He is no respecter of persons. If you are in business with Him and you perform your part, you will be more than satisfied with what is coming your way as He has promised in Proverbs Chapter 3: 5-10. The bottom line is we must give for the WORD or gospel to be preached around the world. Those who give more to the services of God reap more harvests. Again Paul said in Corinthians those who sow sparingly will also reap sparingly but those who sow abundantly will out of their abundance reap thousand folds. The more sacrifices you make the better the reward. Hannah gave her only son to the services of God and had five more. God even gave up His only son and see where you and I and a lot more sons and daughters are today. Living, talking, preaching, teaching, praising and glorifying Him. For that's all He requires from us. May the Grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Love of God and the fellowship of the Holy spirit abide with us forever.

To Brother Larbi, you may be my Uncle but the best advise you can give to the lord people is to help them with prayer to understand Gods word themselves. It's interesting how a straight forward message that warns readers not to allow arm twisting by any men of God is viewed by some of the readers as " the pastor begging for money". I believe the writer posited a scriptural principle without coercion. He stated facts not opinions. Christians cannot choose to read one part of the bible and ignore the rest. There is reference if you carefully read the article to both OT and NT. For the fake and those readers who see the truth as wringing people's hands for money, I feel sorry for your misunderstanding this article. Believers need more education on biblical truths. And I'm thankful the author of this article is doing just that without asking any reader to pay their "first fruits" or tithes to their church. Now that we do not have any more burnt offerings on the altar, the ministers, prophets and apostles of our time use our first fruit offerings to buy flashy cars, chains and necklaces. One minister told me only recently that because offerings were burnt on the altar, no questions asked, any moneys collected in his church as offerings are never accounted for, and no church member has any right to ask for any such offerings to be accounted for!
If our ministers would stop their thievery ways and concentrate on preaching the Good News of God's love to us, rather than the current prosperity message, the church would fulfil the charge to turn the world to the Lord!

Christ said 'The harvest is plenteous but the laborers are few'. Again before He was taken up, He said to the apostles to go into the world and preach the Gospel. The apostle Paul said how can we hear if the Word is not preached? And how will the Good news be preached to them if we do not send the people out to do the work? And how will the bearers of the Word preach the Gospel if they are not resourced? Today the Good news has made its way into the hearts and homes of many sons and daughters around the globe because of advocates who believe in His words and works to use their resources, time and lives to champion this cause. Bear in mind also that just like in farming, we have good seeds and bad seeds. Sure, there are bad preachers around. The scriptures even talk about them. Refer to Timothy and Titus. But Paul emphasized that the Gospel has to be preached for the goodness of mankind. I am glad you have advised readers to read the Bible and seek the truth for themselves. But it takes money to print the Bible. It also takes money for the distribution of the Bible to the stores for you and I to gain access to. The storekeeper has to pay rent to house the books and also earn a living to feed his or her family. We can go on and on for what the Gospel can do for society if the human race is entirely opened to its messages. May He shower His Grace on you. Amen.

If you read the piece well, the author said it's not compulsory and that it's based on one's faith. It's based on the principle of Give and Take. If you don't want financial blessing, don't do it and remain a poor Christian and go to heaven. On the contrary, you can do it and be blessed to become a wealthy christian and still go to heaven, . It's just a choice. Giving or not giving your tithe and first fruit won't make you go to heaven neither will it prevent you from going to heaven, it only helps you on the earth here. Remember however, that when you're poor the propensity to commit certain types of sin is high and so your chances of going to hell is also high. Finally, I want to draw peoples attention to the fact that monies paid to churches are used to make life comfortable for church members. God doesn't spend(use)money.The monies are used for comfortable seats,instruments,quality PA systems, projectors, transportation systems and of course for the upkeep of those who have devoted their time fully for the work of God. If such monies are misappropriated by those in authority, they have questions to answer to God. That shouldn't be our major concern. All we need is to be committed to God, ask for the grace to forsake every way of sin and walk perfectly before the Lord.
