I do appreciate your point of view OT...and thank you for your contribution. I would really love to see the reference for Christ asking for the celebration of His death (Maybe you are referring to the Last supper)...The true meaning of Christmas is love. John 3:16-17 says, "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him." The true meaning of Christmas is the celebration of this incredible act of love.
The real Christmas story is the story of God becoming a human being in the Person of Jesus Christ. Why did God do such a thing? Because He loves us! Why was Christmas necessary? Because we needed a Savior! Why does God love us so much? Because He is love itself (1 John 4:8). Why do we celebrate Christmas each year? Out of gratitude for what God did for us, we remember His birth by giving each other gifts, worshiping Him, and being especially conscious of the poor and less fortunate. We may disagree on dates and origin..but let us not miss the true significance of the celebration. Thank you for reading though.

mr. kingsley can you state one bible verse which states specifically that christmas should be celebrated? there is nowhere in the bible where the birth of Jesus was celebrated after his death, but his disciples celebrated his death after he had gone to heaven. Always listen to the bible and not what you feel.Give me just one bible text about christmas.God is a father, Jesus is the son they are 2 different persons.-Act 7:55 "But he, being full of the Holy Ghost, looked up stedfastly into heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God,"- in heaven Jesus sits at the right hand of God, he is not God

They speak of love, and the Lord Jesus Christ said, love your neighbor as yourself, and even love your enemies. Thinking about loving a person you hate, how does that be? What Jesus Christ was saying is that it is better to save or present salvation to your enemies or a person one hate than hating for cruelty sake. If not this explanation, how can a person love who the person hate? Just think about it. If I can say, then christianity in it true sense should be salvation only. If A PERSON can pray to move mountains, the person finally received salvation as results of praying in faith.
Titus wrote some scriptures even though he was not an apostle and not part of the twelve disciples. So I am a disciple of Christ Jesus. Born again, pro-Jesus Christ the Lord God. I save people from deceptions of clergies, car dealers and electronic gods.
Behold brethren, don't be a fool of the cultures of the west. They are trying with all their might to adopt the gospel of Jesus Christ with their carnal selves into their own cultural understandings, instead of allowing the gospel of salvation to adopt them. That is the curse running the world right now.

No God sent his/her son to come and die for anyone......We need to get this through our thick skulls.
Why would God do that?? Isn't that too limiting of the "Almighty God" we all talk about?
Why would he/she create all this universe with all its wonders, but then had to resort to the murder of his/her son to save all mankind?
No wonder we've become a bunch of murderous and toxic society, since we're created in his image.
My point here is God is way too greater than the confines we humans have created for him/her to exist within, such as the creation story, his regret for creating mankind, selecting a group of people to be his "chosen" people, having a son with a "Virgin" woman, the son being the same as the Father and something called the "Holy Ghost", men killing the son and the son rising from death and ascending into heaven, which both defy the natural order(God's law)of things etc etc etc....
None of these things happened as we're made to believe and it's about time we wake up from our mental slumber and take responsibility for our lives and put our destinies in our hands and help ourselves to achieve greater heights. We have all that we need here on earth to make it happen..
Just my Kobo....

Hi Serebour thanks for your counter perspective and I am glad you spent some time to read through the article. I find it fascinating that you grant the first part of the book (Bible) when you say we are created in God's image. Then go on to deny the rest of the biblical narrative. Truth must be both coherent and must conform to reality. Will be happy to discuss the specific issues you raised with you if you have the time. Again your conclusion remarks in which you believe we can do it on our own..takes us back to Genesis. The false sense that we are capable in ourselves. If history has taught as anything, it has thought us that man's heart is desperately wicked which is the most empirically verifiable fact but yet denied. Don't stop in your quest for truth by just making assertions. Test the claims and follow truth to where it leads. For me...I believe you will come to a person..for whom we celebrate this season. The person of Christ. Have a nice holidays
