I read your article expecting to see some strong points to discredit the atheist position. However, your article consists of 18th century arguments which are no longer propagated by modern religious apologists. For example, your hut analogy is simply a different version of William Paley’s famous watch analogy. In this analogy he compares the planet earth to a watch. You on the other hand compared the planet earth to a hut. This argument is no longer put forward by any Christian apologetics. This is because it has lost its credibility because many people have proved this argument to be weak and false i.e. Richard Dawkins and others.
We as humans can witness people making watches, cars and huts. However, we cannot witness a God or Gods appearing out of nothing and creating the planet earth and the universe. So if you look at the evidence, you will see that the atheist position is correct, because we accept things as long as there is evidence for it. If there is no evidence for a claim then the claim will be rejected. So henceforth why the God hypothesis is rejected by atheists.
Next, you mentioned how atheists cannot disprove the existence of God. Well this obviously is not possible; in the same way that you cannot disprove the existence of all of the other thousands of Gods worshipped worldwide, or even fictional fairy tale characters. So the onus is on you to provide evidence for the existence of God, because you are the one making the assertion, so you are then required to present evidence to back up your assertion and atheists are not required to disprove your claim.

How?Atheists claim that they are people of reason who believe only based upon reason and yet there are several things they believe without evidence, like the Big Bang theory and the idea that life arose out of the mere assemblage of elements or the idea that a fish became a human. The writer has clearly had some education and has an interesting turn of phrase. However, nothing he says in his piece suggests a critical mind. Just a lot of waffle, with incoherent analogies and wild conclusions based on a faulty understanding of what science actually is.
The creation narrative that we are force-fed from infancy, is self-evidently inadequate to explain what we know about the universe. If you wish to hold on to your comfort blanket of an omnipotent, omniscient and omnipresent deity as the genus of all that complexity and vastnes, by all means, do. But don't insult the intelligence of others who wish to reconcile the evidence of their own eyes and intellectual experience by requiring them to believe in fairy tales!

The problem is that people can relate easier to the simple-minded stories that the bible and other religious books offer. The same way in SSS, the simple,2-dimensional atom is taught to core science students, while elective science students get to understand that the atom is a lot more complicated. Less than 5% of people in this country get the chance to have tertiary education, so it is not so surprising that that is the case.

2. Atheism is not a faith. on the other hand it is 'unfaith' : I do not believe in that which i have not seen or heard.

4. People believe in evolution because they see it at work everyday.
5. All religions tell various lies at different points of history to explain things they do not understand. Remember that Galileo Galile was executed for 'heresy' for saying that the earth was round contrary to church doctrine that the earth was flat. we now know better.

Science has NEVER claimed to have all the answers, but when it does, it provides irrefutable proof that it is the truth. Some scientists believe that a former gargantuan black hole gave rise to the big bang!!! and that the cosmos goes through cycles of big bangs and black hole formations which eventually swallow themselves!!! no proof but much more sensible than a god(who appears out of nowhere,exist for millennia then decide creating :))) who creates all living things and decides to create man of clay yet mans DNA is >90% a copy of a monkey lol.

People have been stuck with this believe that we were all created equal by a god in his own likeness since infancy. Pure & simple brainwashing. People then find it difficult to reason rationally. Who was created in god's image? the Chinese? the African? the blonde Norwegian or American or European?
And is god as stupid as most Ghanaians who give a bunch of thieves enough votes that they feel confident enough to rig the whole election so that the stealing can continue? Will Americans do that? No atheist says that something came out of nothing. Most atheists come to their conclusions after examining the evidence for life after death, the origin of the universe and so on. Accepting primitive explanations which lack any proof is, I'm sorry to say, idiocy. The sad truth is that most people who believe these primitive explanations are ignorant and have not bothered to find out what the body of available knowledge is. Science is not an opinion, but a process for discovering things and making conclusions only in the absence of reasonable doubt. Science has not found everything, and probably never will. But who would you believe, an ancient philosopher who claims to have seen visions sharing his opinions or a modern scientist with all the modern technology for discovery and the scientific community to check, critique, refine his work, and debunk it when he is wrong?
Sometimes I wonder why I even bother. In Ghana, ignorance is fashionable. And that is precisely what you get when literacy rates are so low.

The question is NOT whether the Big Bang or the idea that life arose out of the mere assemblage of elements is logical; the question is whether or not you can point to a specific experiment that has been conducted in a lab to prove that both the Big Bang and the idea that life arose out of the assemblage of elements are true. If you cannot point to a specific experiment ever conducted to support your position then it means you believe what you believe based on faith and NOT upon reason and evidence as you claim, hence, making you no different from the theist!
The truth about you atheists is that because you don't want to believe in God, a belief that will inturn have you subject your life to Him, you will invent and belief anything no matter how ridiculous while claiming that science backs you when in fact the opposite is true.
With that said, let me point out to you the not so obvious fact about science. Scientific inquiry rises and falls by experiment. So until you can subject any hypothesis to a test in a lab, it is mere hypothesis and NOT a scientific theory. As a result, any so-called "theory" that is being preached without subjecting that theory to an experiment is apocryphal by science's very own immaculate standard or testing. Since that is the case, the Big bang "theory" is NOT a scientific theory, but merely a hypothesis. Also, macroevolution or the idea that life arose out of the assemblage of elements or that a fish became a human is nothing more than a hypothesis!
The thing about you atheists is that you have hijacked science and are trying to force it to make claims it cannot make. Why don't you simply stop living in denial and accept the fact that science is limited as to what it can know and cannot know? Furthermore, don't just believe something because "science" says so.
The fact is that science is conducted by fallible men driven by their own biased beliefs and will do anything to try to use science to justify their beliefs, hence, creating room for the possibility of skewed results!
Aside from the fact that I am the author of the above essay, I am telling you this because I am a man of science and have a BSc. in Biology. As a result, i know the domain of science very well then you do.
In conclusion, I'll leave you with these wise words: we humans were born into the position of ignorance and while it is our duty to move from ignorance to knowledge, from darkness to light, we should beware of false knowledge which has no less blinding power than ignorance! Stay blessed and keep enjoying everyday life.

You cannot be a skeptic when it comes to religion and not be one when it comes to science. If you choose one over the other then you are not a skeptic or a rational being as you claim but a hypocrite, someone who acts in contradiction to his or her stated beliefs.
With that said, I guess what Edmund was simply pointing out is the fact that science is done by fallible men who bring their beliefs to the table when doing science, hence, making their results capable of being influenced by what is known as observer bias. Many experiments have been conducted to prove evolution. I keep pointing to a simple eg of how antibiotics work, saying it is the principle of evolution that it employs. The difference between science and religion is that in science nothing can be accepted as fact without the proponent of the theory proving it beyond reasonable doubt, in the face of hard analysis from the smartest minds on the planet. For me and from what I have read from your article, I find it quite noisy. Meaning, you are suggesting quite a bit, without the labor of evidence. Surely, in almost everything we do day to day, especially important stuff, some sort of evidence is required in order to decided how we are going to partake in the given task at hand. Such as, do we wear a coat or not.
Your analogies do not suffice. Not to long ago in our history, there was a time when all believed that it was a god whom threw lightening bolts and gods which swayed the clouds. We have learned quite a bit about how lightening bolts get formed and how clouds are created. Should we use your philosophy we would still be believing that gods are behind the stormy weather. I suppose some still do...
The best answer I find to where it all begun and what I feel is the most honest answer is: The heck if I know!
Furthermore, I often laugh at the religious creation stories, especially the genesis version. From what we have learned, the genesis story has it wrong on quite a few counts. But, as those whom believe that gods are behind the weather, there are also those with whom believe about anything such as the genesis story. So raise your tin foil hat proudly!

Did you know that over 90 percent of scientists don't believe in God? Every time you are sick and you take your tablet, I'm sure you say 'thank God for the medicine'. But the scientists who make them do not believe in God. Next time you have malaria, don't take your medicine just have faith and pray to God through Jesus and I can assure you, you will die. It is in Christ Jesus, in whom is hidden all the treasures of knowledge and wisdom. Further, God gives rain and sunshine to the wicked/unbeliever and the righteous.
Also the raw materials are from God himself, for the Earth is the Lord's and the wisdom thereof.
Remember also that Doctors or Physicians treat us, but Healing come from the Lord.
So stop arguing blindly, and give your Life to Christ before it is too late for you.
God is not interested in seeing the wicked/unbeliever remaining unreconciled to him, that is why He is asking the whole world to be reconciled to him. Satan has, however, blinded the eyes and mind of many so that they may not come to glorious Salvation of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
And you have no clue about the man of God, Pastor Otabil. He is one of the men who availed himself to be used mightily in the early times. I remember, in those days there is no way you visit his Church, without being convicted by the power of the Holy Ghost. Even when no alter call is made during a sermon.

What is Science, after all? It is knowledge obtained by observation and the testing of Facts.

The Prophet Abraham did speak about Christ hundreds of years earlier when he said unto Isaac "God would provide"
,on the way to mountain Moriah.
It was more than a statement; a prophecy, that is a statement of truth which was in line with a revelational knowledge about Christ Jesus who was to come, hence God's intervention and promise unto him that "By means of him(Abaraham) the whole world would be blessed".
Abraham passed the test of Faith by his obedience to sacrifice Isaac unto the Lord, a ram was provided instead, but that was a symbolic representation of what God was going to do.
If Abraham was prepared to sacrifice his only Son(Son of promise) to God, then God was one day going to sacrifice his Son Jesus Christ on behalf of the entire humanity.
And that Son was to come from the line or progeny of Abraham. Please, read the geneology of Christ Jesus in book of Mathew in the NT.
The summary of what Iam presenting is that Chritianity is a contuninity of Judaism which is also a contuinity of God's dealings with the Patriachs, including Abraham upto the time Isaac and Jacob, and hence Israel became a people/nation unto whom the Oracles of God were entrusted to them, until the coming of Christ to furfill all things in accordance with the promise given to Abraham, that by means of him the whole world would be blessed. The promise goes as far back as when God promised of a SEED after the fall of man. That SEED in the book of Genesis is Christ Jesus.
It is up to the individual in Judaism to come to the knowledge that Christ has come. THe same Truth about Christ runs throughout out the Bible. In the new dispensation Grace has come, for the law came by Moses, Grace and Truth came through Jesus Christ.

There is a time frame of about 400 years between the book of Malachi(the last book of the OT) and the coming of Christ.
Thus, Buddha existed during the time of the 2 or 3 of the last Minor prophetic writings that completed the OT.
In order words Buddha was born at a time that the covenant God of Israel had long made a covenant with a nation through whom He(God) has made himself known to even nations afar off, through the Prophets that he raised among the Jewish people.
Christianity is a continuity of Judaism, for the NT repeatedly proves beyond doubt the person of Jesus Christ, and the purpose for which he came to this world to save humanity.
All the Prophets bore record to this Truth.
God's Salvation to humanity is so important that one cannot sit down unconcern. You should not allow your job, academic projects or any other endeavors of life to prevent you from studying the Scriptures, and appropriating the promises of God in your Life as they are written in scriptures. You are to appropriate the promises to your Life through a prayerful study of the WORD, Fellowship(We are not to forsake the gathering of ourselves, check Hebrews), confessing and witnessing to others.
Ladies and gentlemen, God has given us Life and that Life is in Christ.
Jewish Prophets made their marks throughout the world, all in preparation towards the coming of Christ. Prophets Moses in Egypt and throughout the Middle East, Joshuah((God himself assured him that as long as he(Joshuah) was living, no man on the entire earth could withstood him)). the Prophet Daniel left a legacy in ancient Babylon (Iraq) and Medo Persia. In the East noble men who were looking forward to the Prophetic fulfillment of the writings that promised of a Star(Book of Numbers) that would rise up from Jacob(Israel) came all the way to worship the King.(Please, read the entire chapter 2 of the book of Psalms, also)
Jonah was sent to the great city of Nineveh in the Assyria Empire. His tomb is now in Mosul(in Iraq), formerly Arshul which was under the Assyrian Empire but later conquered by Babylon(Iraq), just to mention a few.
Even in India where Budhism and its numerous appendages emerged, the Scriptures has maneuvered that land (Read the book of Esther)
So religions may have their own form of godliness, but denying the power thereof. No amount of spiritual piousness can please the True God when one has not accepted God's Son and the WORD of God.
Christ has bled (atoned) for us, and we should not take it lightly. You are to justify your inclusion by receiving the Son of God as your personal Savior. Let is come out of your lips that you have received him.
You should also baptize(by immersion), for it is the immediate commandment by Christ Jesus. We are to be sure of all things.
And as long as Satan continues to deceive the world, there are those who will fall prey to false doctrines, for Satan masquerades as an angel of Light, pretending to present something which is good, all in an effort to blind people to come to the Salvation knowledge of God.
If you are new to Christianity, I encourage you to look for a Bible and read the Book of John. Get closer to a believer in Christ and start attending Fellowships. If no body leads you to Christ,take the boldness to ask a Pastor to lead you to the Lord. A spirit filled Christian can equally do it.

I would refer you to some of the first Christian attempts to justify belief in God, ie, St Augustine and St Aquinas which underpin Catholicism till today. In both proofs, the premiss upon which logical conclusion can be drawn are scientifically unsatisfactory. Indeed the reason why faith comes into the equation of religion is because of the lack of evidence and reason.
I should point out to you that the bedrock of Atheism is REASON (evidence and proof). The bedrock of religion is FAITH, that is to say NO REASON.
I think your sense of logic is very poor indeed.

Atheists reject all notions that God can be quantified or expressed in human terms.
The history of God as expressed by humans bears no resemblance to reality and this is the reason why atheists reject the God or gods that the various religions seek to hold on to.
