Catto retains Juniors Golf Trophy

Tema, Oct. 7, GNA - Nicolo Catto of the Tema Country Golf Club retained the Ghana Golf Association's Junior Open Championship trophy he won last year, when he returned a gross score of 161 to win this year's event at Tema on Sunday.

Eduardo Castagna came second with 166 gross, while Asante Kena-Antwi took the third position with 169 gross. In the Group B category, Kennedy Amenyo came first with 172 gross followed by Cecil Essien at second position with 178 gross with Christian Mbii placing third as he lost on count-back to Essien. The two-day 36-Hole Scratch event was opened to junior golfers aged between the ages of 12 to 18 years and sponsored by Desimone Group Ghana Limited.

Mr John Wattenburg, Secretary of the Ghana Golf Association praised the youthful golfers for their enthusiasm and game spirit. He said the Association has developed plans to train many junior golfers and to unearth talents to enable them acquire the needed skills of the sport to represent the country in international events.
