The reason why foreigners (and some Ghanaians abroad) don’t visit Ghana in recent times is due to the lack of security in the country. All you hear from Ghana is one indiscriminate armed robbery after the other. Also infrastructure needs to be seriously addressed; bad roads, Dumsor, lack of decent hotels in rural areas (due to lack of investment as a result of the collapsed economy).

This suggestion is contrary to what I've been reading and teaching my students about on sustainable forms of tourism, such as ecotourism. It looks like the minister's only goal is the economic returns which will go to government. Why suddenly disrupt people's cultural traditions just for your economic gains? We should be promoting something more authentive for the ecologically and culturally sensitive tourist and the well-being of local communities in the long term.
