We know we are putting out noisy shitty music so why are we surprise?
all the african artists are trying to be americans and have not caught up yet. until then, they will be seen as second rate and treated sub par. artists making the network millions in the US and around the world will get spotlight. it's just the way things are.
The only way out for the Africans is to make African music with good sound quality and musicality that can be sold in the west. Imitating western artist and paying journalists to write nkwaseas3m everyday to impress your fans will never cut it. it makes African artists seem unmotivated and looking for a short cut.
By the way, artist should be aiming for the watered-down grammy awards. BET is an atlanta thing really. ghetto trash.
well, looking at that lazy fat woman behind such schemes, its no surprise she's helping the viacom network terrorize black households in the americas. smh

Well said Lilian,
Africans got to learn. We are preoccupied with imitating American artist, British assent and Jamaica music.
How did we get here? How could the Ghanaian national award scheme have a category for dancehall music? I have been fortunate to live in UK, USA and Canada. These countries have a lot of Caribbean population but I don't see dancehall category for the national awards.
It is sad to say but folks in the UK, USA and Canada who are from the Diaspora and from other nations would like to hear African music. My question is, what Ghanaian music is? You have people living in Ghana who claim to be producing songs for the international market. But what they forget their accent gives them away, cord structure and progression of their songs exposes them.
Man! You will never be one of them. The journalist won't write about your music unless the journalist and the public can relate to your songs, besides you don't have to pay to get your song played on radio in these parts of the word, so your song won't making it on air if you don't meet the standards. Why copy these folks any way? By the time your song is release something new came out already.
Let's learn from Nigerians, Senegalese, South Africans and the Congolese, their music is well patronized around by individuals from the Diaspora and other countries.

american radios dont play our african music not because we are not good, but becos of the Not-too-good mentality that has overwhelmed the average american mind even the blacks. Africa is a continent and we should do well to come up with our own awards, that promotes originality, promotes our culture and heritage, talks about our history. Other than that we cant fit in sounding like Jay-z and co.
