There is a big rift between George Darko & Lee Dodoo, and it has something to do with the song "AKOO Ti Brofo" and the album. Lee dodoo sang most of the songs on that album, but to the best of my knowledge, Lee Dodoo was not part of the group that George Darko formed and based in West Berlin-Germany. There is truth in what George is saying because I know both of them very well, and was resident in West Berlin even before George Darko came to reside there. Lee Dodoo came to reside in West Berlin some years later, by then the well known Ghanaian musicians in West Berlin were Pat Thomas(recorded Yesu Sanabra in West Berlin) and George Darko.I think Lee Dodoo must rather come out with the contract he signed with George Darko on the album, "AKOO TI BROFO" to clear the air. Is a pity that the rift is still going on, because they got on very well but sometimes when it comes to money, things fall apart.

This problem was caused by ignorance. I am not sure I understand what Lee means by pirating his voice? If the song is remastered later on, depending on the terms of the contract, you can be paid royalties. If George is playing live and sings the song or someone sings the song even in the likeness of Lee, Lee gets no credit. It was not Lee singing if he does not own the song. The bottom line is who has rights to the song, the nature of the contract between Lee and George over vocal rights. Insults don't solve the problem

What I can say is,if there has been any problem with how it was produced,the rewards to accrue,contract signing,benefits etc,I think you guys are not as young as the time you produced that music.
Therefore,a deal has to be settled,by negotiation.
Just sit down on negotiation table and solve the problem,once and for all.
I remember,a guy I have played on the stage before,in Koforidua CATERING REST HOUSE,was playing the lead guitar,on that album:AKOO TE BROFO.
Please,settle every difference and stop all these variance,mutiny,problems,confusion,threats,and come again as brothers and friends.

Nkansah was not drunk in the studio- he just didn't want to be part of the deal. You were too good to request a deal- you were glad to be part of a project without a contract which was your mistake.

Nonetheless, I am glad to know that your voice was the vice that graced that Album. Without it George was nothing, but a square bandsman.

The music industry all over the world has Artists, producers and writers,togther they make music for all of us to enjoy.

Song writers will write songs for a fee and pay artists to sing it and then a producer will also produce it also for a fee,this has been the norm and was the situation in the early days in Ghana.

It was all business but because of the passion and friendship these guys had at that time some of them did not bother about the contractual relationships and implications of their actions.

However, at every stage of the business after the recording of the song/songs are completed all parties to the project has the moral and legal responsibility to acknowledge each others work and contributions when it comes to claiming ownership of the out come of the project irrespective of whether one got paid or not.

It is against this background that I think Uncle Lee Duodo and the other guys who were party to the project had a raw deal with the Ako Te Brofo song. I guess when they recorded it they didn't relise it was going to be such a master piece and a hit record, but Nana Darko ( George Darko)took all the credit for that success just because he paid them a token at that time for their work.

To make matters worse, is when Nana Darko for over 30yrs has made everybody think that the recording voice of Ako Te Brofo was his, that was and is CRIMINAL to say the least.

Even to the extent that he mimed the song on national television and protrayed he was singing it there by gave the impression that the voice was his. In the academic world its called plagiarism.

All what Nana Darko should have done if he had good intention albeit claimg he paid Uncle Lee to sing was to claim ownership of the song but to acknowledge the fact that the vocals behind the song was not his PERIOD!!!

But to say that he paid him to do a job by way of singing and hence has no right to be acknowledged for any anything even after the song has been a massive hit was wrong legally and morally unjust.

I grew up thinking the vocals behind Ako Te Brofo was George Darko's voice and after 33yrs it has turn out that infact that vocals was Lee Duodo's. This is Criminal.

There is no point arguing here Uncle Lee Duodo, just go to court and trust me you have a case.

The mere fact that Nana Darko has decieved the whole world with voocals that does not belong to him and not acknowledging that fact in itself is a crime. He owes you a massive compensation!!!!!

I don't think Lee has a case if he's been paid of for his performance. From what I know royalties are paid to the songwriter not the performers of the song.

I remember during a MOGO SHOW some five years ago, organized by CITI FM, Mr Sakyi Djan in the company of Osei Tutu, a trumpeter, Gyedu Blayne Ambulley, Pat Thomas, Albert Jones, and other great musicians promised to make the effort to bring Lee and George together , and would finally end up in organizing a big reunion concert, where Lee and George Darko could play on the same stage, and Bessa Simmons shook hands with Mr Sakyi Djan and all the musicians around pledged their support. I remember Lee Duodu telling Mr Sakyi Djan that if he had to kneel down before George Darko to bring peace, he was ready to do so. Please, Mr Sakyi Djan, wherever you are, take steps to broker peace, since it emerged at the discussion that you are an uncle to George Darko, being a cousin to George Darko's late mother from Aburi Akwapim, even though Geoge Darko's father was the late chief of Akropong Akwapim. My advice to you gurus in the music industry is that you guys should not be washing your dirty linen in public. PEACE !! SENIOR BROTHERS, PEACE !!

I am getting to understand that Lee Doudu is angry for his voice on video recodings; which means the artist in the video performed to lip- sung of Lee' voice. If I am correct then Lee Doudu is angry for his voice in the video without him performing himself in the video.
You two are legends, this matter should not be disputed through social media and not on this platform. Is there no music organization in Ghana? If lee feels that his voice has been used without his permission, I suggest you make your case at the quarters of the Organization.
I met you two years ago in West Berlin and respect both of you greatly for your talents and contribution to our musical industry. I hate to see you kidding yourselves by exposing your difference this way. The Chairman of the Music Industry should take this case and resolve it for once. Or Lee should file a law suit in the courts and prove to the courts that your voice has been used in videos by George Darko without your permission. Please stop the insults and accusations in public. George and Lee, you are too matured to do such insult tradings through this platform.

George Darko is a terrible monster who sabotaged the voice that fed him for fear that the voice will be recognized. The soldiers really threatened Lee Doudou's life.

That is the reason, George Darko should have given song sang by on every copy of the songs otherwise it amounts to piracy.
