It is your choices of words that make people insult/describe you as such. How you people at times modify/explains some situations as if you there makes such remarks. If a young man of say 35 or 40 rapes/impregnates a teenager, the way your colleague by name Vim Lady of Adom FM will report this issues clearly tells how people will describe the Akan broadcasters.

The problem with many Ghanaian Journalists is that they consciously or otherwise become the news, instead of reporting the story or event!
Look,if our Journalists would stick to this cardinal principle in journalism, especially the Akan variant, then everything should be fine. You see you cite the the example of Afia Pokuaah, who by every standard is a very intelligent and a versatile individual. Her problem stems from two angles: The first is her personal penchant[call it trait] to unnecessarily embellish the news; even the obvious. The second difficulty has to do with the media house she is affiliated with, namely Adom FM;which not unlike say the Daily Guide,or Kweku Baako`s New Crusading Guide, always approaches every news item with an "agenda", quite often political in nature,in mind. Thus stories and news items are reported through a particular prism, and this is what creates problems for those News Anchors who read the news! In this vein, if you believe our "Vim Lady" is a problem, take a closer look at Kofi Adoma,Kwaku Adu-Kumi,Obernpong,Naa Atwer,Obiri Yeboah also from the same Adom FM stable;and Kofi Asante Anning[the so-called "Asanteman Kofi"]from Nhyira FM,who all go out of their way to become the focal point of the news or story. There are numerous examples one can find from the other media outfits, but I believe any keen and dispassionate observer cannot fail to miss these points I have made.
Taking newscasters as a whole, I believe the likes of Adjoa Yeboah Agyei, Naa Yaa Konadu,Kwabena Marfo,Nana Agyie SikaPa,Kwadwo Dickson,Nana Yaw Kesse,Ohenenana Kwame Amo,all of PeaceFM, bring a much more refined and mature disposition to reading the news than their counterparts from the Multi-Media Group. It may very well be the case that Osei Kwame Despite, who by no means is politically neutral, together with his trusted lieutenants at PeaceFM,allows his Akan Journalists sufficient room within which to operate and broadcast the news, which should always remain immutable!
I will end my commentary by imploring all the journalsts,English as well as Akan,to be humble and guided by the truth, accuracy, fair and balanced approach in doing their work.

Its good in the local languages but my problem is not until we have a local language as an official one, then some people will not want the Akan.

You don't think Ghanaian women are beautiful?
I'm not sure if you are a Ghanaian but if you are, I think you have been living under a rock. Our women have always been beautiful and I don't mean the half breeds. I'm talking about our indegenous dark skinned women who are our mothers, aunts, sisters, nieces, wives and girlfriends.
I have been living and working in North America for over 30 years and there are beautiful women here too but none that can match the beautiful women I see whenever I go home to visit family and friends.
Having said that, remember that beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Hi Adjoa, you are doing great. Twi/akan is getting broader and wider just as Swahili and Diasporas love to hear it on the air better than the "deep voice" Ghana English which sometime one has to translate. Most Countries are now transforming their national language from English to their local language. Those that are ridiculing you don`t know better.

To the best of my knowledge the problem many people have listening to Twi programmes is not because of the language but rather the way you use it. Some of your male colleagues especially try to add so much unnecessary colour to their language that they end up boring listeners. They should be told to understand that especially news reading is neither drama ('concert') nor a contest in proverbs.

Adwoa is right.is a perception especially in Accra if you speak a good twi or local lanquage.that is a pitty.people think ones you speak good english it makes you better than some one who speak good twi and this has brought about an unknow accent by our musicians and can't even classify their accent if it is english, american or scottish accent,no one knows is only them who can tell.the same thing is gone down to our movie industry.those who act in twi think they are better than those who act in local lanquage.but just look at agya koo and kwadwo Nkansah and compare them to most of the so called english actors, who can you say is dynamic. We have come to hate almost every thing that's Ghanaian.God have mercy.
