Ignorance is our greatest enemy. The problem is,some Ghanaians behave like they know everything so they can shut any good idea down without considering the facts. It takes ignoramuses like that to shut Ambuley down without saying why they think it is a bad idea. I agree with brother Ambuley and I will even take it further. It is very important to have a Ministry of Music and ARTS which is not under any ministry ,Period. The almighty God has bless Ghana with so much music and other art forms. From our traditional music to other art forms in addition to great talents who are being frustrated and wasted ,because ignorance by people who thinks they know everything because they have some paper to prove that they can chew and pour (BABA) ARE KEEPING GREAT IDEAS DOWN. I challenge the government to create THE MINISTRY OF MUSIC AND ART, spend half the money you spend on sports on the ministry and give us ten years, if you don't see a change ,take me to the firing range at Teshie ,and shoot my ass. Formal music and traditional music education will begin from grade one to university. The business of music and the arts industry will be taught so by the time of graduation, you are equipped with the knowledge to be successful in the industry. Some students will graduate to become Music and art managers,producers,e.t.c. Every Ghanaian embassy will have a MUSIC AND ART ATTACHE whose job is to promote and make deals for Ghanaian music and the arts in that country. I have pages of proposal written in details . THE MUSIC AND ARTS INDUSTRY IS CAPABLE OF BEING THE NUMBER ONE FOREIGN EXCHANGE EARNER as well as challenge the UNITED STATES as the number one exporter of music and art to the world. GOD HAS ALREADY GIVEN US THE RESOURCES ,BUT WE ARE SITTING ON IT AND ALLOWING IGNORAMUSES TO WASTE OUR TIME. SAAAAAAAMIA.

Listen, musicians and people in arts and culture will always vote for a ministry to add to big government but don't kid yourself MUSIGA has never been able to become a force since its formation because Ghanaian musicians are not united. The organisation is full of egotistical personalities who bark louder than their creative music...give me a break and 1st put your organisation in order and then you can become a force to push an agenda.

Don't confuse yourself with MUSIGA which is a union that protects and represent musicians and the ministry. You should not be confused by T.U.C and the ministry of trade. Ghana must develop all the sectors that will help the nation move forward. We cannot afford to ignore and sit on our Gods giving resources and expect the union to get its act together before the right things are put in place to move the industry forward. The union is doing their best and must be respected and commended. However, the Ministry have a greater responsibility to see to it that the people are equipped with the knowledge to tap the resources properly to move the industry forward. Ghana is blessed with many positive and patriotic educated people who can work with the ministry to move the industry forward . With positive thinking and hard work, the music and art industry can be bigger than gold and oil combined.

Now, MUSIGA protects and represent musicians but who has MUSIGA actually protected since its formation.
How can musicians make money when there is a site out there that plays all Ghanaian music on the computer for free and Musiga can not work to bring this site down. Musicians must understand they are the only ones who can defend the rights of music and not farmers or traders. Musiga and the likes should get their house in order via solidrity and understanding to build that force that can push action to bear on politicians to respect and know the worth of music/arts. Lastly, Nii Bort.. stay out we are not learning anything from your contribution.

Everything you are saying is on the money, however you started on the wrong note that is why we had to go that route. Now we are on the same page so we can have a positive discussion . I'll urge NII to hold his punches and join us if he can make a contribution. Ayera, your concerns are the reason why the idea of a ministry is very important. The 21st century and technology has brought positive and negative changes that requires 21st century solutions. The ministry will be a blessing for the union to be effective in their operations. I remember the days we didn't have musiga. Some of us with my manager and friend FAISAL HELWANI of blessed memory ,fought with everything we have to start the union . Despite all the obstacle and confusion in the way, the union is doing their best and must be respected ,commended and supported. I understand there are more than one organization representing musicians in Ghana, believe me more will come, this is what democracy is all about and why the idea of a ministry is a 21st century solution. I have a complete proposal prepared in detail, how it'll be done, sitting in my cabinet for years now. At this point,I'll like to continue the discussion, via ,okyeremaasante@yahoo.com THANKS.
