Just recently, versatile Ghanaian musician, KK Fosu took a swipe at Kumawood movies for lacking good morals.

But Veteran Ghanaian versatile actor Prince Yawson, popularly known as Waakye, now Baba on the tv3’s chorkor Trotro series, has also indicated that Kumawood movies are not to be blamed for lacking good morals.

He indicated that Ghana in general has culturally been colonized by Nigerians.

He was talking to Dj Murphy Lee, the host of entertainment extra show of Sunyani based Metro Fm:

“Well, What I have observed about Ghanaians is that we over learn. We don’t learn to comprehend what we learn. There are so many things we’ve learned from others which we are even doing it more than them. Those days, we were doing comedies, now our movies are filled with insults which I wouldn’t blame the actors or the producers, because those who watch the movies are supposed to point out the flaws in the movies but since they’ve accepted not to do that, the movie makers also sees it as good and it’s destroying and killing us”, he noted.

“Now when you produce a movie which doesn’t contain strong language or insults, Ghanaians would say your time has passed. So we are our own enemies. We should learn to preserve our culture. We have a rich culture. We just have to package our products well. Though we were colonized by white people, I can confidently say, culturally, Nigerians have colonized us which is very bad”, Baba revealed passionately.

Baba was one of the lead characters in the popular drama group “0bra”, between the 80’s and the 90’s with the screen name “Waakye” that educated the then generation vehemently.
