Akufo-Addo confused; UK doctors advise against contesting?

As the New Patriotic Party gears up for an intense political banter to elect a flagbearer to contest the 2016 presidential elections, twice defeated flagbearer of the party, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo, who many party faithful have tipped to win for the third time as flagbearer of the party, will not be contesting for the flagbearership race after all.

A very liable source close to Nana Addo hinted that Nana’s current health status has plunged the Akufo-Addo for President 2016 team into a state of confusion as his health keeps deteriorating. “We are a bit confused as medical doctors are advising against our will,” the dejected source hinted.

Nana Addo picked up his nomination form to contest the NPP flagbearership slot on June 12, 2014 in a rather unusual quiet atmosphere at the party headquarters at Asylum Down in Accra.

He later travelled to the United Kingdom leaving Ghana on June 21 to seek medical attention. The source confirmed “C1 (coded name for Nana Akufo-Addo) was to among other things clear with his doctors on his status”.

It would be recalled that during his overly spent six months stay in the UK from the “hurly burly” of politics, Nana Addo constantly received medical attention from his doctors while he was away. The recent appointment with his doctor in the UK was to clear any doubts regarding his health status prior to filing for the NPP flagbearership.

Information from his recent visit confirms that Nana Addo’s campaign has been hit with a state of confusion as the planned filing which was to be held today at the party headquarters was postponed by Nana’s campaign team.

The source would not reveal any further information but said “We may have to try Plan B. C1’s (Nana) health is causing us”. In the early hours of Friday, leading members of his campaign had gathered in his house to beg the twice defeated candidate to file with the aim of him stepping down for a Dr. Bawumia/Lord Commey pair.

Until recently, Nana’s ailing health has become a cause of worry to many party faithful who believe that he should be truthful to his health and step aside to allow younger candidates liken Addai Nimo and Osei Ameyaw to lead the NPP into election 2016 as Alan’s campaign has hit a rock.
