Alan supporters behind Akufo-Addo's 2012 defeat - Appiah Ofori

A man certainly reaps what he sows and this truth cast foreshadow for the New Patriotic Party to note that making Alan Kyerematen their next flagbearer could make them pay a bitter price in the future.

The dust surrounding Mr. Kyerematen’s presidential ambition has almost settled and it looks certain he would contest during the NPP’s primaries to become a flagbearer.

But a senior member of the party believes that inasmuch as the NPP’s constitution allows Mr. Kyerematen to contest and be voted for, he believes the time isn’t right for him to enter the race.

Hon. P.C. Appiah-Ofori noted that Mr. Kyerematen made some remarkable errors which were still fresh on the minds of Ghanaians.

The first mistake Mr. Kyerematen made according to P.C. Appiah-Ofori was to exhibit his incompetent managerial skills when ex-President Kufuor gave him the chance to spearhead the President’s Special Initiatives (PSI) project.

The aim of the project was to produce high-grade industrial starch from cassava for export to key markets in Europe, Africa and Asia.

The brain behind it was also to create over 10,000 jobs and develop an innovative approach in rural industry development based on the concept of Corporate Village Enterprises.

“Based on his track record, I can foretell that cassava growers would mock at us if we make a mistake and elect him as our flagbearer,” Mr. Appiah-Ofori said.

The second mistake Mr. Kyerematen made was to allow his supporters sabotage Nana Akufo-Addo for political reasons.

He explained to Okay FM that Mr. Kyerematen looked unperturbed when his followers falsely accused Nana Addo of using hard drugs and taking delight in hard liquors.

“In 2012, Alan’s supporters were behind Akufo-Addo’s defeat. They campaigned against him and I wonder if Alan thinks it would help him ascend to the throne. What he forgets is that should he even win the primaries, karma would manifest. They were those who stated Nana Addo takes in hard drugs and liquors, but in the end we all know it is a lie,” he said.

This according to P.C. Appiah-Ofori, was a wrong approach Alan Kyeremanten and his supporters used to fight the Nana Addo.
