40,000 people register to replace their Voter IDs in W/R

Sekondi, April 1, GNA - About 40,831 people registered to replace their Voters' Identity Cards in the Western Region during the just ended Electoral Commission's exercise to replace lost IDs.

Mr Steve Opoku-Mensah, Western Regional Director of the Electoral Commission, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in an interview on Monday.

He said the highest figure of 7,735 people was recorded in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis, followed by the Wassa West District with 5,690 people. "The Shama District recorded the lowest figure of 1,376 people," Mr Opoku-Mensah said. He said the replacement of the Voter Identity Cards would be ready during the revision of voters register in May this year.
