The United Front Party (UFP) has congratulated Mrs Charlotte Ama Osei for her appointment as the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC).

“After going through her huge credentials, we are more than convinced that she really qualifies to be in the perceived hot but enviable shoes of the retired Dr Kwadwo Afari Gyan.”

A statement signed by Nana Kusi-Poku Listowell, Communications Director and copied the Ghana News Agency at the weekend said Mrs Osei new office comes with another huge task.

“We believe that with her substantial know-how in public service management and her far above the ground expertise, she is incredibly competent of managing the commission and even adding more values to the accomplishments her experienced colleagues have chalked.”

The UFP said Mrs Osei assumes the seat, she should heed to all constructive criticisms and disregard all unconstructive critics, especially those that are insults and seek to bring her hard won reputation into disrepute.

They also commended the former Chairman of the EC, Dr Afari Gyan for the profound work done.

“Your great proficiency in election management has lifted the name of Ghana so high as a democratic country and… safeguarded the peace that we have always enjoyed as Ghanaians,” they said.

The UFP expressed gratitude to President John Dramani Mahama for not sidestepping the constitution to do the appointment more so appointing a woman.

“This action has immensely contributed to the deepening of our democracy and given credit to the Affirmative Action,” they said.
