'Full display of moneycracy' - Alan supporters blast NPP for using money to woo back defectors

The Nationwide Supporters of Alan Cash (NAWSAC) have lambasted the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for allegedly resorting to financial inducements in a bid to sway youth support away from Alan Kyerematen's Movement for Change.

NAWSAC, a group rallying behind Kyerematen's leadership, issued a statement on Monday, April 22, 2024, decrying what they describe as the NPP's "full display of moneycracy," referencing what they see as the use of money to manipulate young voters.

“We are aware of the clandestine operations of the New Patriotic Party to undermine the candidature of Alan Kyerematen. This time in a full display of 'moneycracy', there have been blatant attempts to use money as a tool to pull young people from the Movement for Change.

“This is defining of the awful state of the New Patriotic Party who are forced in their panic mode to stoop so low.

“Let us emphasize that the true young people of this Revolution cannot be bought. We the youth are convinced in the leadership of Alan Kyerematen and will not trade our integrity and convictions on the altar of incompetence and corruption,” part of the press statement said.

Luther-King Junior, the convener of NAWSAC, expressed concern over what he termed the NPP's "underhanded tactics" and urged young people not to succumb to financial enticements.

He emphasized the disillusionment among the youth towards both the NPP and the National Democratic Congress (NDC), accusing them of manipulative behavior.

“To you, the stomach political apparatus who have been so cheapened by your greed to think your poster sticking and noise-making roles are substantive enough to undermine this revolution, we applaud your ignorance.

“NPP and NDC shall no longer take the youth for granted. NPP and NDC cannot buy the conscience of young people with their spoils of corruption. The youth shall win this war!” the statement added.

Meanwhile, it has been reported that approximately 6,000 young politicians across the country who had previously defected from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to join Alan Kyerematen’s Movement for Change have announced their return to the NPP.

Led by former NPP parliamentary candidate aspirant for Adentan, Alfred Ababio Kumi, the group admitted that leaving the NPP was a mistake.

In a press conference held in Accra, Ababio Kumi publicly acknowledged their error and declared their renewed support for the NPP flagbearer.
