Africa's finest runner ever Haile Gebrselassie has said that Ghanaian parents must encourage their children to doing sports and participate in the upcoming Accra Millennium Marathon in September.

"I would like to use this opportunity to encourage all Ghanaian parents to give their wards the chance to participate in this event," Gebrselassie told www.sports24gh.com

The Ethiopian well acknowledged Olympian also reckon how fast technology is killing the sport, "We are in a technological world and as such this is not giving the children the opportunity to even exercise. I am not saying technology is not good, but it's making our children grow lazy," he noted.
"I have children myself and at times it baffles me when I send them to go for something upstairs for me and you'll see them complaining. They prefer to sit by their computer and maybe play games than to exercise and athletics as you see is a culture that must be grown in order to achieve."
"The number of hours our kids spend on the computer needs to be checked by all parents and I think their teachers must also provide them the room to engage in Physical Education anytime they are in school," he added.
The 2015 Millennium Marathon dubbed 'Run the Change in you' is expected to attract over 15,000 athletes.
