We need more coaches - Dodoo

The President of the Ghana Athletics Association (GAA), Professor Francis Dodoo has admitted that more coaches are needed to shape athletes ahead of the 11th edition of the All Africa Games (AAG) in Congo Brazzaville in September.

Dodoo told GNA Sports that "Apart from funding and infrastructure, another bigger challenge is coaching. We have a lot of talents in Ghana and we need to upgrade the level of our coaches to train the athletes with the exposure and opportunities.

He said that he was impressed with the athletes performance at the second edition of the Ghana Open Championship held at the El-Wak Stadium at the weekend.

According to him ‘‘ The athletes are now a year older and a year experienced so we should expect to see more from them at the event with few months to qualify for the Africa games.

"I can tell the athletes are fit and with more competition, you will see the quality come out for the major event’’.

Ghana is expected to participate in the multi-discipline competition.
