‘Ghana’s Fastest Human can produce world champs’

Sponsors of this year’s Ghana’s Fastest Human, Surfline are optimistic the event at the end would produce talents capable of winning medals for the country.

The wholly-owned Ghanaian company has expressed their commitment to ensuring they collaborate with the organisers and other stakeholders to ensure the sport is lifted to a higher level.

In an interview with the Times Sports, Brand Communications Manager of Surfline, Edwin Amoako, said the outfit is so far impressed with the potentials displayed in the competition.

“The intensity displayed by the kids so far is amazing and certain world champions would be produced among the participants,” he stated.

“We intend to identify talents this year and already several potentials have been displayed and we hope to get the best at the end of the event,” he added.

He added that the objective of the outfit is to put aside a comprehensive programme that would support the noble cause of helping raise athletics to greater heights.

“We look forward to having Ghanaian athletes compete at a certain level that medals would be won for the country as done in the past when Ghana won laurels in the sport,” he stressed.

According to him, they have a long-term plan of bringing athletics to the level where it could be celebrated as football as there are amazing talents when nurtured, could rock shoulders with others on the world stage.

“Just like the Jamaican approach that has ensured that they are currently dominating sprinting in the world, we look forward to making sure Ghana gets to that level,” he disclosed.

Coupled with the efforts of the Founder of Ghana’s Fastest, Rex Brobby, Ghana Athletics Association (GAA), the Ghana Olympics Committee (GOC), the National Sports Authority, Ghana Education Service and Ministry of Youth and Sports, athletics could be improved in the country.

He said the passion displayed by young athletes especially at the school level would be nurtured to ensure the emergence of multiple world champions.

In that regard, he said Surfline would help form the Speedsters Club where athletes would be camped and provided the necessary coaching to develop their potentials to the fullest.

“We would make available seasoned trainers, coaches and provide the necessary assistance in all aspects of talent development from equipment, nutrition to techniques to enhance performance,” he stated.

“As proud Ghanaian company we are committed to supporting another passion of the nation that already have the foundation in place, which is athletics,” he added.

He also commended organizers for their effort adding that they expect the level of intensity displayed at the Accra edition of the event extended to the grand finale at Kumasi.

He added that, their collaboration would fast track the growth of athletics in the country as corporate participation is the way to go as far as development is concerned.

The sponsorship he said forms part of their corporate social responsibilities that include health education and sports.

Ghana’s Fastest Human is an athletics event focused on short distance race (100m) with the third edition currently ongoing and Surfline, Ghana’s first 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) network are proud sponsors.
