The treasurer of the Ghana Athletics Association (GAA), Mark Dradozi, has said his outfit is not expectant of any financial support from government in 2016.

The national track and field governing body has consistently suffered financial support since 2012.

With this sequence the GAA is planning to raise at least $385,000 to fund the national team’s participation in international competitions and organize 10 local championships and an international Grand Prix this year.

The Sports Ministry’s budget was last year reduced from GHC36 million to GHC24 million and Dr. Mark Dradozi expects nothing from government this year.

“What I can say that is if we get some money from the sports ministry is that it will be a blessing. Because since 2012 we have been waiting for the support but it has been fruitless. We are now strategizing internally with corporate bodies to survive our game plan,” he told Starr Sports.

Meanwhile the GAA has released 2016 National Team Selection Policy for the Olympic Games in Brazil.
