Apam tops them all in Zone Four Athletic Meet

Winneba (C/R), Feb. 17, GNA - Apam Senior High School swept the most trophies in the Zone Four of the Central Regional Sports Association 2010 Athletic Meet held at Winneba Senior High School park. The school won both boys' and girls' divisions with wide gaps. In all 16 schools competed.

Apam earned 131 points in the boys' division to take the first position.

Ekumfi T.I. Ahmadiyya School came second with 64 points followed by Andam Senior High/Technical School with 56 points to place third. Senya Senior High School secured 54 points to place fourth, while Great Lamptey Mills School had 46 points to place fifth. Winneba Senior High School placed sixth with 38 points, while Gomoa Senior High/Technical got 32 points to place seventh. Enyan Denkyira Senior High School and Ajumako Bisease Commercial College took the eighth and ninth positions with 27 and 26 points respectively.

Potsin T.I. Ahmadiyya got 20 points to place tenth. Mando Senior High secured 14 points to place eleventh with Apam Charity Senior High with one point to place 12th.

Four schools, Kasoa Blessed Tutorial, Ajumako Senior High School, Winneba School of Business and Kasoa Wesleyan Atlantic Senior High School got no points.

In the girls' division, Apam Senior High School scored 136 points to place first, Winneba Zion Girls followed with 108 points to take the second position.

Potsin T.I. Ahmadiyya took the third position with 42 points. Apam Charity SHS placed fourth with 38 points. Mando SHS got 32 points to take the fifth position. Enyan Denkyira SHS took the sixth position with 29 points. Winneba SHS and Senya SHS had 26 points each to take the seventh position.

Bisease Commercial College got 18 points to place ninth. Andam SHS and Ekumfi Ahmadiyya took the tenth and 11th positions with 17 and 16 points respectively.

Gomoa Senior High/Technical placed 12th with 15 points. Kasoa Blessed Tutorial SHS had 14 points to place 13th. Three schools, Kasoa Wesleyan Atlantic, Great Lamptey Mills and Winneba School of Business got no points. Mr Archibald K. Fuah, Headmaster of Apam SHS and Chairman of the Zone urged athletes to be disciplined and take their training seriously. He urged them to emulate Isaac Inkum and Abeiku Quansah, who through dedication and hard work came out from the Zone as a national football stars. Mr Fuah urged athletes to combine sports with academic work to ensure a better future. He advised Ghanaians to exercise the body regularly to be free from heart-related diseases. 18 Feb. 10
