Sakumono tennis club beats TOR Club ly

Accra, May 9, GNA - Sakumono Tennis Club, over the weekend defeated Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) club 4-3 on aggregate in a special competition held at Sakumono.

TOR proved the dominant side in the first game when they handed the home side a humiliating 3-0 defeat in the male singles division. Sakumono Club redeemed their image in the doubles with a 4-0 drubbing of their opponents to win the competition. Captain Sammy Ewool combined effectively with Dr K Kumah to win the first doubles game 7-3.

TOR's pair of Napolean Wobil and Kofi Nyarko appeared no match for Ewool and Dr Kumah, whose aggression, powerful serves and returns ensured that Sakumono Club remained on top. The Sakumono pair twice broke their TOR opponents and further pushed them to commit several unforced errors. Samuel Donkor and Stephen K Babson took over from Dr Kumah and Ewool in the second game and trashed TOR's Peter Asiedu and Patrick Obeng Ansong 7-0.

The third game saw Sakumono's Blu Fankan and Chris Adumuah recording a similar win over William A. Darko and Ato Koomson. Eric Owusu and A. Addo completed the demolishing exercise over the Hammond and Dekuza in the final game by 7-4. Mr Robert K. Danson-Boakye Business Manager (Personal and small business) The Trust Bank Limited, sponsors of the competition, congratulated the winners for a job well executed. He said the bank took the sponsorship of the programme as part of their social responsibility function and might consider increasing the ten million cedis package next year. 09 May 06
