GTTA invites 10 players

Accra, May 9, GNA - The Ghana Table Tennis Association (GTTA) has invited 20 of its best players to participate in a week-long coaching course from May 15 to 22 at the Winneba Sports College.

Speaking in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), Mr Patrick Anyidoho, General Secretary, said the Association in collaboration with the Ghana Olympics Committee (GOC) had invited an Italian table tennis expert to handle the courses.

The General Secretary stated that in line with the continuous change of rules in most sporting disciplines, especially in table tennis, being a good player was not enough, but the ability of players and coaches to embark on refresher courses.

Mr Anyidoho stated that the nation lacked table tennis coaches, hence the move to train some senior members of the Association to be abreast with the current state of the sport.

Players invited are Christian Aboagye - Police Service, David Cabu - Navy, Ebenezer White, Emmanuel Yarboi, Ashitey Armah - Fire Service, Prince Yaw Boateng.

Others include W B Ayiko, Kwesi Koomson, Kwame Addo, Joe Addo Owusu, Hakeem Ewusi Brokman.

In the women's category Esther Lamptey, former African champion in 1980, Helena Amankwah - Fire Service, Rebecca Ampa - Prisons Service, Joyce Dowona, Mary Asante, Angelina Agbonu, Alima Said and Alice Alubiga.

The General Secretary revealed that the workshop would be held every year.
