Herve Renard was not a tactical genius, quite the opposite, he took down Sochaux and Lille and has never had any club success. He was great at recruiting players such as Sofiane Boufal, Oussama Tannane, Eric Bailly, Lamine Kone. A good coach must be able to recruit binationals to supplement homegrown players, and Avram Grant is either a lazy recruiter or a horrible one.
