No national U17 team in any other discipline in any country gets bonuses for heaven's sake! Why all this expectation? They are int he national team, they get their travel and per diems and get to represent. Why should anyon ... read full comment

Sir, if you compare to any nation. It's not feasible to have to keep pyaing bonuses for playing sports. It's absurd. No other country does it. Only in Ghana and in football. There is not a reason for it. Sports needs to be professional and resources spread fairly across all sports. Football sucks up all the money. The teams are huge with loads of officials all travelling around the continent. No sponsorship. These kids are getting training and tracksuis, travel and accomodation and they get to play in the national team and hopefully keep going till they get to their goals. If you have to give them bonuses just for qualifying then maybe you should pick someone else who is more hungry to play and succeed?

There are other african countries that don't pay bonuses. U17 is a youth category, why the bonus? Football is expensive for a nation, the teams and officials are many and the number of visits abroad to play are very expensive.. To develop all sports there needs to be a fair distribution of resources. Paying U17 youth team a bonus for qualifying is absurd. NO other nation does it. Not in Africa anyway as far as I know. If the government spends all its money on football, the U17,the juniorsthe seniors, the enormous number of people that have to travel the number of tournaments it adds upto a huge commitment. Instead of developing other sports. there needs to be a fair and professional assessment of what's going on and football has already had a lot. Let mr Nya take care of football now he has a big job on FIFA.
