what the sports minister is saying is right. Successful sports development depends on integration of business and sport. However in Ghana it is difficult to convince corporate bodies to get involved and to care when there is no basic system in place. Almost all the Federations are riddled with a lack of transparency, their governance is poor and the Presidents are dubious. An overhaul of the whole system needs to be undertaken and it can only be done so from the top down. THe President HAS to see that he has to get involved. It is something that affects the youth and offers them real potential AND it promotes the flag and the national identity. It is an important cornerstone of nation building. However the way it's set up at the moment is that almost ALL the Federations are a law unto themselves. Whistleblowers get punished and sidelined. Talent is stifled and no one gets to progress. This is so damaging. And in that climate, corporations are not incentivized to get involved. Maybe a thorough review and government inquiry is in order to empower people tocome forward, speak and challenge the existing system and put some people who are actually qualified to run the federations in place. Right now the presidents of the federations run their organisations like personal fiefdoms bragging that they are 'UNTOUCHABLE' because the 'government can't get involved in sports.' well that's true but if there is serious concern over how the flag is being represented and federations managed I think the President should empower the Minister of sports to step in and hold an inquiry to tackle these problems. without that there will be no investment. It has to get cleaned up. If it were working obviously Ghana would have had more success. No Olympic wins since the 60's? The talent is there and the money is there. If smaller nations can do it then so can Ghana. The problem is with the Federations. clean it up and the money will come.
