Opare plays for one of the biggest clubs in turkey. He was a top performer against Liverpool in Europa. His pace is incredible. What do you mean he's not balck star material?

It's not surprising that the last three Black Stars' coaches, viz., Kwasi Appiah, Maxwell Konadu and Avram Grant, have dropped Daniel Opare from the Black Stars squad and haven't invited him again since he featured in the Stars' opening match against the U. S. in Brazil. Opare was one of the defenders directly responsible for the America's two goal against Ghana. When the U.S. striker Dempsey was approaching Ghana's goal area, instead of facing him squarely and taking the ball away from him after he had beaten all the defenders to it, Opare merely gave way and allowed Dempsey to shoot and score so cheaply within a matter of seconds of the very first minute. In the case of the second goal the U.S. scored, Opare again behaved strangely. When the Americans took the corner, after the score stood at 1-1, Opare stood quietly beside the scorer who jumped and headed the ball into Ghana's net. Opare never contested for the ball at all!
Even an American commentator observed Opare's strange behaviour and wondered aloud whether he had been bribed to allow the U.S. win the match against his own country.
So, if Opare has been overlooked and hasn't been invited to the Black Stars squad since then, it's for a good reason; it's his own doing. Opare did really poorly in Brazil and he miserably let Ghana down. (But I also seriously blamed, and still blame, the coach for his poor player selection for that first match, and it pains me more when I remember his senseless reasoning and explanation that he wanted to make substitutions only after the Americans were tired, yet he still didn't do so after only about twenty minutes to full time!). Of course, Opare may be performing well right now at his new club, but given the bizarre way and manner in which he behaved in Ghana's opening match in Brazil 2014, I alone would advocate strongly against his being invited to play for the Black Stars again. After all, there're good players available now who can play his position better than he.

Please note that NOT every player can be called to the Black Stars. Otherwise, we could easily have 100 players in the team now. Despite maybe doing well, some in the team are doing better. Besides, the defence in our national team is gradually gelling as a solid unit playing with great understanding. They were superb in AFCON 2015. Why rock the boat? Positions are now very competitive so we have the Vorsahs, Shlupps, Akaminkos, all waiting for call-ups again. No more automatic membership just because you feature for a club abroad.

Daniel Opare can be good on the ball sometimes, but he's not consistent with ball control and his passing and ball anticipation are not good. He is prone to committing unnecessary fouls, due to his style of defensive play, which get's him into trouble. He suffered a Red Card in Ghana's friendly with Brazil, played in England. He needs to improve on these areas if he's to get a recall into the Black Stars. I'm however not the coach so I cannot say who Mr. Avram Grant should include in his team. Although Opare has these petty mistakes that he needs to correct, he can definitely make it back into the squad. Daniel Opare needs to polish his game a littele bit. As a youngster, he has more years ahead of him to rise up to become a top star. With all things said, the coach has the final decision. We should leave that part of selection to Mr. Grant; he's the man in control.
