Such provocative statement brings keep on conversation of this nature that we sure do not want. KA must be proud that he is getting much more advance players to fuse with the younger one. I even do not believe KA will make such statement. Every coach who wants to win will be proud to have Essien, Kevin, Dede and Jordan. These guys are first choice players in their various clubs. What is all this unnecessary discussion about? Currently none of our midfielders are better than any of them. May be with an exception of Jordan who is still up and coming, Dede, Essien and Kevin are all first class world players. I was watch in the game we just played with Lesotho and those easy goals scored due to the weak defense of Lesotho. It is such laughable that we think BS is all that good. Anyway we must know how to encourage these guys and be honest to ourselves that we need them more than we think they need us.

I thought over the years at least the few past years selection of players for the Black Stars had been on justify your inclusion. If the head coach comes out to say it is not automatic for those who have rescinded their decision not to play now to me does not carry much weight. The point is that they are already aware of it before their choice not to play for the Black Stars was made by them. Now if the head coach himself went to Italy to talk to Kevin and equally spoke with the Ayews simply shows they were needed in the team. If well meaning Ghanaians made efforts to cause these players to reconsider their decision and play for the national team and finally the president of Ghana got involved then what is the point.
The point I am making is that if these players were not needed then why all those efforts of individuals to get them to change their minds and play for the country. Such statements
are though right to be made but not in situations as this. It discourages future attempt by well meaning Ghanaians to help in future situations of this nature. As though their efforts is not acknowledged at all. Everybody knows Kevin and especially the senior of the two Ayews concerned, how they had been of immense help to the Black Stars when they played in 2010 world cup. I thought the head coach should have kept his policy to himself because it`s already known but to voice it out at this time carries with some element of undermining those who helped to bring these players back into the fold. As if it`s a show off then why all the trouble to convince them to return to the team. I am not sure I have made my point so clear. We have to remember that at world stage you need most of those who were in previous team that played in 2006 and 2010 as long as they are still competitive. Then add new legs who are also very good and excellent at game when it comes to the world stage.

Then there was another time when goal-keeper Fatau Dauda was playing excellently better than any goalie. Then Appiah announced that Dauda was not our best goal-keeper. Recently Appiah was quoted as saying that Sulley was substituted to make way for "Better Players".
How sure are we that Coach Appiah said these atrocious things. Maybe or maybe not. A successfull coach must harness the Power of Silence and keep his thoughts to himself. He should not communicate jovially or casually on team matters with the Pandora press. Or else he will sow discord in the Black Stars. No team can win without total commitment of all the players.
Appiah needs to be briefed about leadership psychology and how to handle the "humpty-dumpty" egos of all the players. He should not have been sent to study under Manchester City's Mancini. He is famous for boxing and tussling with his star players including Adebayor, Tevez and crazy Balloteli. Not good example for Commander Appiah.

Zambia got nothing to lose,they are already down so is an all attack,we kust need a strong midfield to control the central area of midfield and the defence to disrupt their attacks and be very effective in counter attacking...we can use the 4-5-1 defensive formation,the 2 midfield wingers can play a more attacking role in counter attacks joining with the lone striker.I think Dede will be effective in that duty. The players kust have to play according to the game plan and this will be a sure win dor the stars.

One would have thought those who are ochestrating the return of the those players could have talked with the coach first and insisted that the young men apologised to him and whoever felt offended by their misbehaviour. Nobody is talking about discipline but rather calling the coach to manage his ego. To me such a call is much more insulting than the misbehaviour of the young men. Kwasi Appiah is a human being and will definitely feel slighted if this clarion call is what the powers

They should shut up for the coach to do his job. Without these so called mercenaries Ghana has been wining and even better in terms of goals scored so far.
The mercenaries will destroy the Unity in the team. Like a fan said who should play for Ghana to qualify and then to be axed for a retiree to come and play at the ultimate. Injustice must be nib in the bud period. The retiree should come back after 2014.

Only undiscerning mind couldn't see that the president's action would put the coach between the hard rock and the deep blue sea. The only way the coach wins is if the Black Stars win against Zambia no matter who plays: if Appiah doesn't select the returnees and Ghana loses, he will be pilloried like Judas by a segment of the population; if he selects them and Ghana still loses, other segment of the population will bury him under an avalanche of criticism as a weak coach, the team will be divided and that will be a bad omen for the future.
I don't know why we employ a coach with the expectations that he win matches and trophies but we don't want to give him the freedom and discretion to choose the team that he thinks has the best chance to win?
Why don't we tell the president who we think should be a minister and who should not?
