For the first time i disagree with Pratt. How can we prefer to lose just because we have a local coach. That is accepting mediocrity. Appiah has within this short time shown that he is incompetent and above all vindictive. he has used his personal hatred for Abedi and his children to dig his own grave. Unfortunately he dug the grave too deep and fell into the grave himself. now he cannot come out of the grave he dug himself.IF WE MAINTAIN APPIAH, WE WILL NOT QUALIFY FOR THE WORLD CUP. That is certain. World cup is bussiness. Get a competent coach and pay him well and when u qualify you will get your money back with plenty interest.

In as much as i admit he goofed by replacing Paintsil(Agya Koo) with Solomon Asante and subsequently pushed Kwadwo Asamoah who could have helped in the attacking machinery to forcefully play at the left full-back, i think our players were not battle ready for the Burkinabe onslaught. Kwasi Appiah didn't teach Vorsah and Clottey to miss penalties. They were simply shaken and you could see it on the face of Clottey before his kick. Leave Kwasi Appiah alone for until the STARS psych themselves up, Jose Morinho cannot qualify us to the world cup.

Kwasi Appiah must learn that Kwadwo Asamoah is effectively forceful as attacking midfield. When you watch K. Asamoah play Juventus, there is no doubt the boy is good. Watching him play full back with the B. Stars, he seems invincible. If K. Asamoah is good at that position with a high voltage Juventus team, why should he not use the boy similarly with Black Stars?
Secondly, it seems to me that Kwasi Appiah was afraid to offend Gyan to replace him when it was necessary. I love Gyan. He belongs in the Black Stars team. But I strongly believe that Kwasi Appiah should play another striker like Clottey or some other with him.
Relying solely on Gyan has become our prescription to fewer goals and defeat.
We should accept the fact that no matter how good our defense, we will sometimes concede a goal or two in a game. That is why we should prepare our ability to also net more than a goal in a game. Gyan is not the guy to rely on if we want to be a contender.
I will support Appiah on the job. Because it's too quick to find new Coach. But the technical officials should work out a game plan for selecting players. Who plays with who and who replaces who and the edge to call out players when they are having a bad day; even if it is the Captain.
I will also suggest to Coach Appiah to get the Ayews' on board. Andre is a good goal getter and could be very helpful. They are forceful and helpful to their team.
Admittedly, Coach Appiah has work to do. He must form a technical team that makes decision together and he must listen to advice, what makes a successful coach is to pay attention to advice.

I COULD HAVE COACHED THESE PLAYERS TO GOLD. APPAIH IS NOT INTELLIGENT. GH IS AMASSED WITH PLAYERS AND TALENT. WHAT WE LACK ARE INTELLIGENT
COACHES. THE LIKES WHO CANT EVEN BEAT YOU AT CHESS OR CHECKERS.
OUR PROBLEM WAS NOT THE PLAYERS, BUT THE COACH AND HIS FOOLISH BRAINS. TWEAAAA, APPIAH WO Y3 TOKE!
I HAVE SEEN ENOUGH OF HIM AND HIS STUPID ANTICS. HE IS NOT INTELLIGENT, AND HIS STUPID TACTICAL METHODS DONT YIELD RESULTS. ALL THE TRAINING IN THE WORLD WONT HELP HIM. HE NEEDS TO GO N FIND A CLUB N WIN WITH A CLUB BEFORE HE IS GIVEN ANOTHER CHANCE WITH GBSTAR.
I HAVE NO CONFIDENCE IN HIM AS OUR COACH. GET RID OF HIM. LET HIM GO N COACH HEARTS OF OAK OR SOME CLUB SOMEWHERE.
MAXWELL KONADU IS THE BEST MAN TO COACH GH BLACK STARS. IF WE CANT GIVE THE JOB TO DESAILLY, THEN MAXWELL MUST TAKEOVER.
APPIAH IS NOT GOOD. I HAVE SEEN ALL I NEED TO SEE FROM HIM. APPIAH TO ME LOOKS LIKE SOMEONE WHO IS NOT IN CONTROL OF HIMSELF OR HIS DECISIONS.
LIKE HE RELIES ON A DIETY OR SOME OUTSIDE FORCE TO BAIL HIM OUT. NOT A BRILLIANT COACH. HE CAN GET A JOB COACHING A CLUB IN GH OR ELSEWHERE
IN AFRICA. IF HE SUCEEDS, HE CAN COME BACK. WE DONT NEED NO MORE DADA BA COACHES FOR GBSTARS. APPIAH HASNT PROVEN HE DESERVES TO
COACH GBSTARS. HE WAS GIVEN THE JOB ON A SILVER PLATTER. GIVE THE JOB TO DESAILLY OR MAXWELL KONADU. LOOK AT KESHIE? KESHIE HAS PAID HIS DUES.
GET RID OF APPIAH!
OR ELSE GH WILL BOW OUT OF THE WCUP QUALIFIERS. TRUST ME!
IM SURE APPAIH WENT AND CONSULTED JUJU AND THOUGHT JUJU WOULD SAVE HIS BLACK ASS. WAT A FOOL. HE SHULD GO ASK MOURINHO, GUARDIOLA, FERGUSON
IF THEY HAVE JUJU...TYPICAL OLD FOOL SET IN HIS WAYS. HW3, IF WE ALLOW APPIAH TO CONTROL THE TEAM, WE WONT QUALIFY FOR WCUP. TRUST ME.
CAN U IMAGINE GH GOING TO BRASIL WITH THIS ALIGUNTUGUI STYLE OF PLAYING? JESUS CHRIST! IF DESAILLY CANT TAKE OVER, ALLOW MAXWELL KONADU.
MAX IS A SMART GUY. HE IS NOT SUPERSTITIOUS LIKE AKWASI APPIAH. APPIAH BELIEVES IN THINGS HE HIMSELF DOES NOT UNDERSTAND, SO HE WILL ALWAYS SUFFERS.
THIS IS WAT WE CALL SUPERSTITIION...LIKE JUJU! MALLAM CHOP YOUR MONEY FREE!

You must be a dreamer if you think we are going to qualify for the World Cup. Playing Sudan in Khartoum and the Zambians in both Accra and Lusaka will not be easy; especially with similar tactics the Black Stars employed in all the CAN 2013 matches. Mali, Cape Verde and Burkina Faso all looked extremely good playing against us. Individually, we have some very talented players so can anyone please tell me why they play so POORLY as a team?
Akwasi Appiah should find some other excuse to give rather than the usual "the players were tactically indisciplined". It is his responsibility to make them disciplined and motivated enough to die a little for mother Ghana. If they are a bit committed, they should at least play to win against Mali for third position, but we all know what will happen. And Mr. Excuses will defend the players saying they were not motivated enough to play for third place because they had their eyes on the ultimate prize. He was the one who selected the players among a pool of many others for the competition.
To think they were going to play against Nigeria and win without first going past Burkina Faso belongs to the dream that it was; even with the pathetic refereeing that was so embarrassing to watch as a Ghanaian (my wife hates football even saw through the shambolic refereeing), and the horrible playing pitch.
We all witnessed some of the most atrocious refereeing decisions ever [case in point Petroipa’s two yellow cards; Keba Paul’s red card challenges on Gyan; the foul on Agyeman Badu that led to the Burkinabes equaliser, the disallowed Burkinabe goal (50-50 on that call though)], coupled with extreme physical challenges from the Burkinabes.

We were indeed lucky to get to the semi-finals. The overall performance of the Black Stars was pathetic, which is a direct reflection of the standard of coaching. Kwadwo Asamoah at left back? Who dreamed that up?

Ghanaians are overly critical of their own. He took a young experimental team to the semi-finals of a tough tournament. I know we are all disappointed, but in retrospect, many Ghanaians were saying that this team would not even make it out of the group stages!! You say we got lucky...I should remind all negative people that luck is part of any tournament. In fact, Nigeria was horrible in the group stages. They were lucky that penalties were called against Ethiopia. They turned it around in the knock out stages. Now all the Nigerians asking for Stephen Keshi's head are quiet. Let him do his job. We have had foreign coaches. Have they won AFCON or the WC for us. No!! In fact, in 2008, LeRoy had a star studded team and we had to take a bronze. Stop the double standards and let us see what the man can do.

Where is your reasoning? Appiah has done better than most of his immediate expatriate coaches. Black Stars not because coaching, or the players but due to "big mouth" of Ghanaians; most of the players didn't want to take penalty and those who volunteered did it under strenuous stress. We have to blame ourselves. We vilify them for any little mistakes. It is time we stop unnecessary criticisms and insults that we rain on those who have volunteered to carry our flag. Appiah did the best with the talents available to him. We have to be realistic; we can’t thrive on our past glories. Burkinabe’s team doesn’t match our soccer talents but they are strong, faster, and taller in structure. Yes, they had greater possession of the game because of their physical strength but not because of their soccer abilities. Now, who do you think will be the best fit to replace Appiah? I don’t want to hear about the Ayews; Dede knows why he didn’t show up. National assignment of this nature requires dedication and discipline. Tanga, I don’t think you’re the only reasonable Black Stars fun. No insults.

That is what the conversation ought to focus on and not whether the coach is foreign or local. What is the point in maintaining someone who can’t do the job? National pride? One of the problems we have as Ghanaians is that, we don’t believe in technical knowledge and knowhow. This is one reason we set up low-level schools and universities without thinking what kind of educated people these will produce. We seem to think that success depends on luck, and therefore you can pick anyone at all to handle our national team.
We need someone who understands the game of soccer, and who understands the techniques of the game. This means someone who has both the theoretical and practical expertise. Kwasi Appiah is completely useless and bankrupt! Sack him, otherwise we will not qualify for the world cup. We have to accept the fact that local coaches are not good enough because they lack the expertise. Check the difference between an Oxford-trained academic, and a graduate from a sub-standard university, you will understand what I mean.

“I will be happy if a local coach lead us (Ghana Black Star) and still lose. We must support our local coaches. They can do better than what the foreigners come here to do,” quoting Kwesi Pratt. If that is the case, then you must get the best local coach because Ghanaians are not stupid. Did you invite all the local coaches to apply for the job? By local do you mean Ghanaian coaches living in Ghana, or it includes Ghanaian-born coaches living abroad? I cannot believe Mr. Pratt has the audacity to say “I will be happy if a local coach lead us (Ghana Black Star) and still lose." What are your standards Mr Pratt? Mediocrity or Excellence? Do we want to continuously be impoverished, and be considered inferior in the way we manage our affairs? Do you know how it FEELS to at least put smiles on the faces of dedicated PLAYERS, and FANS when we win a match? We all wanted to give AA the opportunity to prove us wrong, but he PROVED US RIGHT. I posted on this blog that AA deserves some credit, but he also deserves rebuke for tactical blunders. I have a deep feeling that by not substituting Gyan when he missed chance after chance in some of the matches, he was under pressure from his authorities to maintain a corrupt system. Clottey and Yiadom could have replaced Gyan through out the whole tournament. By failing to do so tells me that AA is not cut for the cutting edge of this JOB. Did AA provide time for practicing PENALTY KICKS, that is the only way players can get good at it? How can AA forget so soon how we missed out on the Uruguay penalties. Burkina Faso did very well, I was impressed by their determination, they repeated what Zambia did to us in AFCON 2012. I BELIEVE THAT GHANA WILL RISE!!!

Kwesi Appiah can only do well if he is given a free hand to select the squad without any interferance whatsoever from any quarters. he must also be given in-service training by being attached to FAs or top football clubs in Europe and South America to learn new techniques in the game to enable him to update his skills in coaching and man- managing individual players. how can you leave out technically gifted players like the Ayew brothers in an important tournament like the AFCON.Ghanaians must eschew their ignorance and realise that Asamoah Gyan is playing in an inferior league and therefore has lost his technical skills. the fact of the matter is Jordan Ayew is Ghana's best striker at the moment. Remember the Ayew brothers have nothing to lose for not going to AFCON.Rather it was Ghana that had everything to lose as was proved by yesterday's pathetic and disparaging result.

Being objective, Appiah has done well with a team that is experimental. That is a good sign. He has also discovered a wonderful goalie.
By the way, Ghanaians have to learn to show up to work. The "I have a funeral to go to and I will be back n month..." has to stop. This is why I agree with Appiah disciplining Dede Ayew. I like Dede Ayew but Appiah did what he had to do to set the tone for not just the potential Black Stars but also the Ghanaian work force. Indiscipline should not be tolerated. I would rather have a disciplined team than a team of big names that feels that they can do whatever they want.

If AA is the best local coach Ghana can come up with both home and abroad fine with me. Then he needs serious HELP to make him competitive at the international level. That help can be provided by the GFA. On the other hand if there are other sophisticated and shrewd Ghanaian coaches out there (home and abroad) then the FA should go get them. Kwame Nkrumah brought coach Gyamfi from abroad to come and coach the BS and he won 3 of the 4 AFCONS we have. So either AA receives further education or replaced by a Ghanaian with a better RESUME.

GFA should let Appiah go on study leave to understudy top coaches likes Alex Furguson, top coaches at Madrid, Barsa, Itay & Germany for one Year. In the mean time bring in Dasally immediately to handle affairs. The two can wo ...
