Yes, the player used to make 10.5 million pounds which was $16.8155467 million a year and that was when he signed for Sunderland on the 8th of August 2011.
With his loan to Al Ain, his yearly income dropped to 4.4 million pounds, roughly $7.1 million a year. This was July 15th, 2012.
He then signed a contract on 30th September 2012 for 3.5 million pounds a year, which is $5.61 million a year.
So with this article, where in the world the extra figures came from?
