PLB accedes to referees' demand for increased allowances

Professional League Board (PLB) on Saturday said that it had resolved to accede to the demands over allowances made by the Referees Association of Ghana (RAG) after consultations with the Ghana Football Association to prevent a boycott of the league.

A letter to this effect had been sent to the RAG to inform its members who were to officiate to do so.

A statement issued in Accra and signed by Mr Ampem-Darko, Deputy General Secretary (Technical), said all efforts to reach the Chairman of RAG on phone had failed while none of its members knew his new home.

The statement said as a result of this situation it had become difficult for members of association to heed to the call to report for duty, as the impasse had been resolved.

The statement stated that the PLB would want to particularly appeal to the Mr L. O. Laryea, Chairman of the RAG to ask his members to honour the league matches since the new officiating allowances had been approved.

The statement said if on the other hand Mr Laryea was not reached, all designated referees who might have heard of this release were requested to take this as a national call to proceed to their centres to officiate, while the clubs were requested to honour their league assignments
