Mahatma to net $30,000 in new Hearts deal

Accra Hearts of Oak have managed to block captain and striker Mahatma Otoo from the potential of joining any local club within the country after committing to the club for an additional one Ghanaian football season on Monday.
This comes after bitter rivals Asante Kotoko attempted a coup on the Phobians while the club were negotiating a contract extension as his deal was set to run out in two months.
Otoo extended his stay at a short time at a ceremony at the Holiday Inn Hotel in Accra where he signed to the dotted lines in the presence of board members including Nyaho Tamakloe and Frank Nelson.
Footy-Ghana.com gathered that Otoo is entitled to an amount of $30,000 as enticement fee for extending his contract to August 2014. Otoo immediately received $10,000 as part payment after signing to the new agreement.
According to our sources, the club has promised to settle the remainder of his enticement fee of the new deal after paying as soon as they seal a deal with one of his potential foreign suitors soon.
FootyGhana is reliably informed the extension of the contract does not mean the in-form 21-year-old striker cannot move out any time soon.
It was done to offer the club a better window to transfer him and make some money. Both sides mutually agreed to prevent a situation where Otoo will leave for a club abroad and Hearts will not benefit anything.
Hearts are believed to have pegged Otoo’s price tag at $450,000.
