Portland Timbers goalkeeper Adam Kwarasey has won plaudits from his coach Gavin Wilkinson following an inspiring season in Major League Soccer.

The former Ghana shot-stopper has made 13 clean sheets in 34 regular season games for the Timbers, who are currently third with 53 points in the Western Conference.

“He's cool, calm and collected, even reserved in many ways. But he's got emotion,” Wilkinson said of the 27-year-old, whom he recruited from Norwegian side Stromgodset in 2015.

"We have a lot of confidence in Adam. That's one of the things about him. He's very confident, very composed.”

Kwarasey announced his long-awaited return to the Black Stars in September after a meeting with coach Avram Grant.

However, he is yet to rejoin the outfit, which he quit in 2014 following a dispute with then goalkeeping trainer.
