Asante Kotoko lost 2-1 to Libyan side Al Ittihad Tripoli in an international club friendly played on Wednesday.

The exhibition match forms part of Kotoko’s extended pre-season due to the delayed start to the Ghana Premier League.

David Duncan’s side found themselves 2-0 down just after the half hour mark with first goal being registered in 19 minutes through Tarhuni.

In the 31st minute, Ittihad Tripoli doubled their lead from a spot-kick converted by Abdelmouin Khamaj after captain Amos Frimpong brought down a striker inside the box.

After the break, the Porcupine warriors reduced the deficit through Obed Owusu.
The two sides will meet again on Friday in a return leg clash on Friday.

Kotoko travelled to Libya with 16 players- mainly regulars- after beating Berekum Chelsea 3-1 last Friday in the FirsTrust G6 tournament.
