Ghana’s Youth and Sports minister, Honourable Nii Lante Vanderpuye, has indicated that he will not be in Egypt ahead of the crucial 2018 World Cup qualifier.

The minister believes that as part of measures to cut down cost, he deems it unnecessary to be in Egypt as there wouldn’t be any official duty for him to perform.

“I will not be in Egypt, I don’t believe my presence is needed, it will be a waste of money, considering the financial burdens that confront the ministry and as such, there would not be any official duties in Egypt.

“It’s better for me to stay in Ghana so as to cut down expenditure and use it for something else,” the Sports Minister told Asempa Fm.

He added: “As at now, the national Beach Soccer team are seeking funds for their upcoming African Championship, so I would give that money for my travel to Egypt to them.”

The much-anticipated clash between the Pharaohs and the Black Stars is scheduled for Sunday, November 13, 2016 at the Borg El-Arab Stadium at exactly 16:00 GMT.
