Government spends $1million on every Black Stars game - Sports Minister

Sports Minister Hon. Nii Lantey Vanderpujye has revealed his outfit spends $1million on every Black Stars game.

The Black Stars over the years have enjoyed huge disbursement of funds for the various national teams.

The enormous sums of money spent on the Black Stars team have raised calls for the government to reduce the expenditure of the Senior National team.

It could be remembered that government flew a whopping $4million as bonuses for the Black Stars team during their campaign at the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.

Speaking at a press conference at the University of Ghana campus about the minimum attention given to the other sporting disciplines, Hon. Nii Lantey Vanderpujye said the Ministry spends $1million on every Black Stars game, the money which composite expenses for food, accommodation, transportation and bonuses.

“It is very sad to see all the attention given to football. We hadly spend on the other Sports unlike football,” he said.

“Everything is all about Black Stars and that will collapsing the other Sports. It will surprise you that the Ministry spends $1million on every Black Stars match.

“You can just image how the other Sporting discipline will fare if same amount of money is given to them.

“I think we need to give every Sports equal attention. If not then we have to stop every Sports and only concentrate on football.”

The government has struggled to raise funds for the other Sporting discipline.

More than %60 of the Sports budget has been allocated to football.
