Division 2: Odupon Heroes beat All Blacks

Cape Coast Feb. 26, GNA - Ofankor Odupon Heroes on Wednesday played an impressive second half game to secure a 3-2 win over Agona Swedru All Blacks in their Division Two sub-middle league at the Cape Coast sports stadium.

By this victory, Odupon Heroes who have a match on hand have thus booked their ticket for the middle league with six points after beating Kasoa Bago FC 2-0 in first match on Monday.

Class one referee, Joseph Macarthy ensured he stamped his authority on the game to avoid any scene of rowdyism which normally characterise such tournaments.

After the two teams were signaled for hostilities to begin, it was All Blacks who started strongly and took a comfortable 2-1 lead at half time.

They opened the scoring through a spot kick expertly taken by centre forward, Nii Otu Welbeck in the 12th minute while left half back Ransford Okyere increased the tally to 2-0 in a goalmouth melee in the 41st minute.

Odupon Heroes determined to carry the day took over the attack from then on and following series of raids in their opponents vital area, a hard pressed defender of All Blacks handled the ball in the vital area.

The referee rightly whistled for a penalty and substitute Kwabena Acheampong made sure he scored from the resultant kick in the 44th minute.

The second half saw Heroes on the war-path and they manage to take absolute control of the game exhibiting crisp and short passes thereby forcing their opponents to play in their own half , and through one of their onslaughts, midfielder Albert Aminu leveled up the scores in the 59th minute.

They continued to dictate the pace of the game and scored the match winner through centre forward, Ntow Gyan in the 85th minute to bring the full time scores to 3-2 in their favour.
